Defoe Plays it Tricky

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Alexander Greenblatt raised to 50,000 from late position and found calls from Angela Defoe on the button and Cesar Del Pino in the big blind.

The flop came 4107, and it was checked to Defoe who bet out for 50,000, both other players called. The turn brought the K, and again the action went check-check to Defoe, who bet 110,000 this time and got two calls.

The river saw the 4 peel off, and again it was checked to Defoe, who bet out 200,000 this time, which sent Del Pino into the tank before he announced all in. Greenblatt folded, and Defoe snap called tabling KK for a turned set and rivered full house. Del Pino showed 87 for third pair as Defoe had already started stacking the monster pot.

The flop came K29 and Khabbaz continued for 30,000. Amiri folded, and Busquet pumped it up to 105,000, Khabbaz called, and the players saw the K drop on the turn.

Khabbaz checked and Busquet tossed out a bet of 135,000, which sent Khabbaz into the tank for a good 2-3 minutes. He decided to fold and showed Busquet QQ, which made Busquet smile.

"You don't have the king, do you?" stated Khabbaz.

"Do you want to see?" asked Busquet.

"Sure," came the reply, as Busquet tabled 76 for a bluff.

Cukrowicz Picks Off the Bluff

Action picked up on the river with Ilan Cukrowicz in the tank facing an all in from Luigi Soncin.

With over 500,000 in the middle and the board reading 5JJ103, the under-the-gun Cukrowicz had checked and Luigi Soncin in the hijack had moved all in for 660,000 to put himself at risk.

Eventually, Cukrowicz flicked in the call and tabled A10 for two pair, jacks and tens with an ace kicker, besting the KQ of Soncin.

Jones Shows The Bluff

Govert Metaal raised to 50,000 from early position which saw Fabian Niederreiter call on the button and Steven Jones defended his big blind.

The flop rolled out 477 and Jones checked over to Metaal who bet 55,000 and received two calls.

Jones lead out for 180,000 on the turn 5 and only Niederreiter called.

On the river 2, Jones moved all in for 485,000 effective and Niederreiter went into the tank. After some thought, he tossed his hand into the muck.

"Show it," said table-mate Upeshka De Silva and Jones obliged, turning over J4.

Niederreiter stood out of his chair, frustrated by the situation while the 2023 WSOP Main Event runner up took down the pot.
