Did Chip Dumping Occur with $1 Million Bonus at Stake During WSOP Final Table?

Level 13
Jesse Yaginuma
Jesse Yaginuma

Jesse Yaginuma pulled off a wild comeback on Wednesday night at the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) to win a gold bracelet, which normally would be celebrated by the poker community. But the victory has become controversial as many poker players have made allegations of chip dumping during heads-up play.

The champion took down Event #53: $1,500 Millionaire Maker for $1,255,180. He also received an extra $1 million from a ClubWPT Gold promotion. Yaginuma won a Gold Rush ticket from the sweeps coin poker site, which made him eligible for the seven-figure bonus if he were to take down a qualifying WSOP event.

James Carroll, the second-place finisher, earned $1,012,320 as a consolation prize. But social media blew up during the PokerGO livestream with players accusing the heads-up opponents of chip dumping to allow Yaginuma to win the tournament so that the $1 million bonus would be awarded.

O'Dell Chips Up With Fives

Level 13

Hasan Kural: XxXx/2Q7J/Xx - folded on seventh street
Frankie O'Dell: XxXx/5Q59/Xx
Donny Rubinstein: XxXx/8QXx - folded on fifth street

Hasan Kural brought in, Frankie O'Dell completed, and Donny Rubinstein called. Kural also tossed in calling chips, after which each player caught a queen on fourth street.

They checked it through to fifth street, where O'Dell paired up and led out. Rubinstein made a quick fold, but Kural called, as he did on sixth street.

O'Dell fired a final time on seventh street, but Kural quickly mucked his hand as he forfeited the pot.

Kural was left with less than two big bets, which he put in the next hand to no avail.

Straight Flush for Strebkov

Level 13

Denis Strebkov: 4J/ 65J7/ 3
Alex Tchong: XxXx/ QA48/ Xx

Denis Strebkov completed, and only Alex Tchong called.

On fourth street, Tchong had the betting lead and he bet, Strebkov raised, and Tchong called.

On fifth and sixth, Tchong check-called a bet from Strebkov.

The dealer dealt seventh street face down to Strebkov, but accidentally dealt it face up to Tchong. The floor ruled for the dealer to shuffle in the 2 that was exposed back in with the stub of the undealt cards. The dealer did so and Tchong got his river card down face down. Then, Tchong checked, Strebkov bet, Tchong raised and Strebkov three bet. Tchong made the call. Strebkov announced "Straight Flush" and flipped it over, and Tchong mucked.
