Castro Eliminates Vieira

Level 30 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 0 ante
Joao Martins Vieira
Joao Martins Vieira

Harvey Castro raised to 20,000 from the button and Joao Vieira called.

The two went to a flop which came A32. Vieira checked, Castro bet 14,000 and Vieira check-raised to 37,000. That was met with a call from Castro.

The 7 fell on the turn, and Vieira bet out for 110,000. Castro came along again.

On the 8 river, Vieira bet his entire stack besides five, yellow 1,000 chips, somewhere in the neighborhood of 330,000. Castro didn't wait to get a count and called. Vieira was bluffing with 105 and Castro showed 94 for a rivered flush and scooped a huge pot.

In the very next hand, Vieira was forced all in from the button/small blind, and Castro woke up with a real hand.

Vieira: 97 All in
Castro: JJ

The board ran out 1089AQ and Castro's straight saw him move on to the next round.

A few hands later, Chen was all in and at risk again.

Richard Green: A7

Mike Shi raised to 25,000 on the button and Patrick Leonard defended the big blind.

The two players checked on the K56 and also checked on the A turn.

Then the river came the 3 and things started to get spicy. Leonard checked, and Shi went for a bet of 32,000. Leonard thought for a moment before stacking together a huge pile of green 25,000 chips. Shi didn't wait for the dealer to count the amount before releasing his hand and giving Leonard the pot.

Kornuth has Martirosian on the Ropes

Level 41 : 8,000/16,000, 0 ante

Artur Martirosian raised on the button to 24,000 and Chance Kornuth made the call.

The flop came 964 and when Kornuth checked, Martirosian followed through with a continuation bet of 48,000. Kornuth called.

The turn brought the 2 and Martirosian kept betting, this time to the tune of 125,000. Kornuth once again called.

On the river Q, Kornuth checked, and Martirosian thought for a bit. He used a time extension, but seemingly waved the white flag and checked. Kornuth showed the 95 for a pair of nines and Martirosian mucked.

“Good check”, Kornuth remarked, implying he was going to call. “Maybe not”, said Martirosian, who maybe regretted not firing the third barrel.

Kornuth now hold a commanding lead in the match.
