Rocco in the Mix

Level 4
Michael Rocco
Michael Rocco

Pot-Limit Omaha

Michael Rocco has made headlines in the past year after a strong 2024 WSOP, which included winning his maiden bracelet in the $10,000 Six-Max for $924,922, as well as a top-five finish in the Player of the Year race.

However, he later announced that he would be leaving the poker world in pursuit of a farming endeavor, and that we would not be seeing much of him this WSOP.

Rocco would make it to Vegas for the $50,000 Poker Players Championship. He fell short of the money, but is back in action today in this event.

He was tangled in a pot from the small blind against Adam Croffut on the button. On the 522 flop, Rocco bet 2,800 and Croffut called.

The turn brought the J. Rocco sized up to 7,000 and Croffut folded but not before requesting a rabbit hunt, which the dealer is not allowed to do. Rocco flashed a 2x to his opponent as he scooped the pot.

Heavy Hitters at Table #287

2-7 Triple

The $1,500 Mixed events at the WSOP provide an opportunity for recreational players to battle with some of the most seasoned pros, and such is the case at table #287, with three bracelet winners and mixed game crushers seated alongside one another.

Action picked up on the second draw as Maksim Pisarenko took one from the big blind, David Funkhouser took two from the hijack, and Brandon Shack-Harris took one from the button. Pisarenko led from the big blind, Funkhouser folded, and Shack-Harris called.

Pisarenko stood pat on the final draw while Shack-Harris needed one card. Pisarenko checked to Shack-Harris who tossed out a bet, and Pisarenko let it go without much fight as Shack-Harris dragged some much-needed chips.

Wells Catches Tan's Bluff

Level 5
Robert Wells
Robert Wells

Seven Card Stud

Robert Wells has been on a heater as of recent, as he claimed his first bracelet in the $3,000 Nine Game Mix just four days ago.

He would then enter the $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em where he advanced to Day 3 but was eliminated, and he decided to hop back into the mixed game action.

Robert Wells: XxXx / QJK5 / Xx

Tan completed, Wells raised, and Tan called. Tan would then check-call a bet on fourth.

On fifth, Tan checked again to Wells who bet, Tan check-raised, and Wells called. Tan led on sixth and Wells stuck around.

Tan led for a final time on seventh as Wells contemplated a tough decision. He tossed in the call after around 30 seconds and he got the good news as Tan tabled Q62 in the hole for just a pair of sixes. Well revealed AK3 in the hole for a pair of kings, which were enough to win the pot.

Smith and Rheem Chop One at Another Tough Table

Level 6
Chino Rheem
Chino Rheem

Omaha Hi-Lo

Chino Rheem raised from the button and Dylan Smith defended his big blind.

On the A77 flop, Smith check-raised a bet from Rheem who called.

The A turn checked through to the 8 river which saw Smith lead and Rheem call.

Dylan Smith: J862
Chino Rheem: KK63

Rheem's kings were good for the high while Smith had a slightly better low for half as he tried to pull a fast one on Rheem. The dealer then asked who the extra chip goes to as the players pulled back their bets.

"I get the extra," Rheem insisted, "Don't let the guy who check-raised me with jack-high get the extra chip."

Seated between Rheem and Smith is none other than Viktor Blom, who is enjoying a a successful WSOP thus far.

Rheem and Blom exchanged some memories from the online heyday, as Rheem joked, "I remember one time I sat down at an all-in-or-fold table and you had like 88k in front of you."

"Yeah, I ran pretty good," Blom replied, "Sometimes..."

Seiver up Big After Three Way Clash

Level 7
Scott Seiver
Scott Seiver

Pot-Limit Omaha

With a sizable pot already brewing on a flop of JJ2, Scott Seiver and Matthew Bode were all in against Frederik Brink, who had both players covered. (Seiver had Bode covered).

Matthew Bode: AAK9All in
Scott Seiver: QQ108All in
Frederik Brink: AKKJ

The 6 turn immediatley improved Seiver to a flush and the 3 river changed nothing — more than doubling up Seiver and sending Bode to the rail.

Steinman Quadruples His Short Stack

Level 8

Ian Steinman

Omaha Hi-Lo

Yingui Li raised first to act and Ian Steinman went all in for his last 2,800 from the hijack. Tara Dunn called cold on the button and Ismael Bojang called cold from the small blind. Li then re-raised to 3,800 total and everyone called.

Bojang checked to Li on the Q94 flop and he continued for a bet. Dunn called and Bojang raised. Both Li and Dunn called.

The 6 fell on the turn and everyone checked.

Bojang led out for a bet on the Q river, which got folds from both Li and Dunn.

"Ace-four," Bojang announced.

"No way!" Dunn replied, implying she folded the best hand.

Bojand revealed A854 as advertised to claim the side pot and Steinman turned over J632 to claim the main pot.
