As the 2025 World Series of Poker heads towards its final stretch, another full day of mixed-game action awaits inside the Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas, where 167 players will return at 1 p.m. for Day 2 of Event #73: $1,500 Eight Game Mix.
Following a record-tying Day 1 that saw 789 entrants take their shot at WSOP glory, John Cressend found himself alone atop the leaderboard after bagging a massive 479,000 in chips. Sitting a distant second is Xixiang Luo with 357,700. Five-time bracelet winner and mixed-game specialist Brad Ruben enters in third and will sit down with 347,000.
In fifth place entering the day is Jon Turner (323,000), whose poker resume undeniably puts him in contention for the title "one of the best without a bracelet."
A WSOP veteran, Turner has racked up over 100 cashes across live and online WSOP events since 2005 and boasts over $4,000,000 in reported live-tournament earnings. During this summer alone, Turner has already earned an 11th-place finish in the $1,500 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw, a 10th-place finish in the $2,500 Limit Omaha 8 or Better/Stud 8 or Better, and an eighth-place finish in the $10,000 Dealer's Choice Championship. With a pile of chips and plenty of experience, Turner will be a strong contender to make his first final table of the series.

Plenty of other notables remain in contention, including Chad Eveslage (196,000), Yueqi Zhu (180,000), Phillip Hui (173,000), Jake Schwartz (141,500), Matt Glantz (126,000), Brian Hastings (110,500), Daniel Negreanu (55,000), and Brandon Shack-Harris (266,500) — who had a stellar last few levels in Day 1 after scoring a double knockout to land among the chip leaders.
A total of 119 players will get paid, which means it shouldn't take more than a couple of levels to burst the money bubble. Everyone who cashes will secure a minimum $3,007 payout, but the eventual champ will take home $184,683 in addition to the gold bracelet.
Play will resume on Level 16, which features 6,000/12,000 blinds for limit games, 1,500/3,000 blinds for no-limit and pot-limit games, and 6,000/12,000 betting limits for stud games. Levels are 60-minutes each for the duration of the tournament and players will be sent on break after every two hours of play. A 60-minute dinner break will take place at the end of Level 21 and Day 2 will conclude at the end of Level 25.
