Sapitavicius Off to a Decent Start

Arunas Sapitavicius got away with a three-bet pot preflop to win the hand without resistance.

He then faced the button raise to 75,000 by David Paredes and the small blind call of Erik Nordstrand. Sapitavicius called out of the big blind and the trio ended up checking down the Q♦10♦4♣7♦8♦. The Lithuanian tabled the K♣9♦7♥7♠ for a set of sevens and that won the pot.

In the meanwhile, Loren Egide was eliminated and headed past this table towards the exit.

Daniel Perkusic opened to 60,000 from under the gun and Michael Zulker three-bet to 190,000 in the big blind. Perkusic called and the dealer spread the flop of Q♠3♠2♥. Zulker announced all in and Perkusic called off his stack of 390,000.

Tolga Demirel raised to 80,000 from early position and Kurtis Tinfow shoved for approximately 200,000 on the button. Shrey Maheshwary called cold in the big blind and Demirel called as well.

Maheshwary checked on the A♦5♦2♣ flop and Demirel bet 375,000. Maheshwary responded with a shove and Demirel called all in for approximately 150,000 more to set up a three-way showdown.

Maheshwary had flopped a wheel with a flush redraw, and the J♣6♦ runout needlessly improved him to a flush to score the massive pot and eliminate both Tinfow and Demirel from contention.

Miltiadis Kyriakides came into the day with fewer than three big blinds and survived the early carnage before the first table broke. He was then however knocked out on the second pay jump and had to settle for $28,959 while all other 47 remaining players have locked up at least $33,002 for their efforts.

On his former table, Eric Wang defended against Ben Lamb and checked the A♣10♦6♠ flop. Lamb bet 200,000 and Wang jokingly asked "can I see a turn?" Lamb replied "you can definitely see a turn" but Wang reluctantly folded after some more table chat, exposing a double gutter.

Lamb first flashed the A♠ and then asked "you needed a king?" while he exposed the K♦K♣ as well. They bumped fists after it was all over.

The turn brought the J♦ which slowed the action as both players checked to the 9♦ on the river. Two more checkes and Beck showed K♠K♣9♠5♥ but Zhou had J♠J♥8♠3♥ for a set of jacks to scoop another pot.
