Foxen Doubles Through Tsonev

Alex Foxen opened the action with a pot-sized button raise to 350,000 and Simeon Tsonev called in the small blind.

On a flop of A♦8♣6♦, Tsonev checked and Foxen mulled it over for a few seconds before betting the pot for 900,000. Tsonev then raised and Foxen called all in for 1,060,000 total.

The A♠ turn gave both players trips and the 3♠ river ensured that Foxen's kicker secured the double.

There was a four-way limped pot and the dealer fanned the flop of A♦5♠3♠. Sean Rafael checked and Melad Marji tossed in a bet of 250,000 from the big blind. Isaac Kempton raised to 900,000 on the button and Rafael went into the tank for over a minute. He eventually folded and Marji spent some time thinking before he threw his cards away as well.

Alex Foxen opened to 350,000 from under the gun and Michael Rocco three-bet to 120,000 from the cutoff. Zhou called from the big blind and Foxen folded.

The flop came 8♥K♠3♥. Zhou checked and Rocco bet 250,000. Zhou check-raised to 1,000,000 and Rocco folded, conceding the sizable pot to Zhou.

Sean Rafael raised to 350,000 from middle position and Stefan Lehner three-bet all in for approximately 1,000,000 from the cutoff. It was folded back to Rafael, who called to put Lehner at risk.

Lehner had the best of it with his aces, but the J♥J♣7♠ flop vaulted Rafael into the lead with trip jacks.

The 5♥ turn changed nothing and the J♦ river put an exclaimation mark on Lehner's elimination after upgrading Rafael to quads.

Lehner snapped a quick picture of the hands and board before wishing his tablemates good luck.

The action started with a pot-sized raise to 350,000 by Ben Lamb from under the gun and Quan Zhou called in the next seat. Javier Francort then repotted in the next seat to 1,550,000 and it folded all the way back to Lamb.

Around two minutes passed while Lamb mulled it over and Michael Rocco then called the clock on him.

"I would have made a bet on that," Lamb smirked back in response and he was given a total of 50 seconds to act. As the timer hit the last five seconds, Lamb called all in for 1,410,000 and Zhou folded.

The board ran out 10♦8♠2♠6♥J♣ and Lamb failed to improve despite plenty of equity, Zhou banged his hand on the rail as he would have won the hand.

"Who is your next victim?" Rocco was asked.

He replied, "definitely not him," while pointing to table neighbour and short stack Erik Seidel. By then, Lamb was already gone from the stage as his tournament ended in 16th place for $54,777.

Rafael Doubles Through Nordstrand into the Chip Lead

Erik Nordstrand opened to 350,000 from under the gun and Sean Rafael called from the button.

The flop came J♥2♥2♣. Nordstrand continued with a 300,000 bet and Rafael called.

Nordstrand fired a second barrel for 750,000 on the 6♥ turn and Rafael called again. On the Q♣ river Nordstrand shoved, covering Rafael who had 2,305,000 behind. Rafael called.

Nordstrand could only show A♥K♣9♦8♣ for a bluff with the nut-flush blocker. Rafael had top boat with A♣Q♠Q♦2♦ to secure a massive double up and take the chip lead.

Quan Zhou opened to 275,000 in middle position and Alex Foxen ripped all in for 730,000 in the cutoff. The action folded back to Zhou who announced he was going to gamble with Foxen who was on the short stack.

The flop came 8♣5♦3♠ to give Zhou a pair of eights and the best hand. However, the Q♣ on the turn reversed the roles as Foxen picked up the best pair. The A♥ on the river improved him to two pair and Foxen doubled up.

The action started with a small blind limp by Javier Francort and Marcello Del Grosso raised it up to 300,000. Francort then limp-raised the pot and Del Grosso got his shorter stack into the middle for the following showdown.

The J♠9♥4♣K♠Q♥ runout was a gross(o) one as Francort spiked the set of queens on the river to eliminate the Canadian.

While he raked up the chips, the Dutchman joked "it was always coming," and added, "better than the Badugi tournament."

His hand was certainly a Badugi choice, though only a three-card Dugi with the pair of queens. Del Grosso's tournament ends in 17th place for $54,777 and the remaining sixteen now redraw to the last two tables.

Erik Nordstrand raised to 300,000 on the button and was called by Quan Zhou in the small blind and Melad Marji in the big blind. The flop came K♠J♣3♣ and the action checked around to the 3♠ on the turn.

Zhou led out with a bet of 475,000 which got Marji to fold but Nordstrand stuck around for the 10♥ on the river. Zhou fired out another bet of 875,000 and Nordstrand took a minute before calling. Zhou flashed Q♣9♦ for a straight but Nordstrand held A♦K♦Q♠4♠ for a better straight to win the pot.
