Lam Will Be in Polk's Thoughts Today
Thanh “Jimmy” Lam opened to 11,500 on the button. Seated immediately to his left and in the small blind was Doug Polk who jammed all in for around 32,000, saying, "I'm all-in Jimmy. We'll dance into the night."
When action came back to him, Lam looked at the ceiling and said, "What a bad time to bluff," but asked for a count. Polk was stating he finally caught him.
Lam went "Pull it in," which was music to Polk's ears, stating it was the best three universal words in poker. After the chips were pulled in after his bet, he calculated his risk-reward ratio and said, "20 to win 70" and immediately called, putting Polk's tournament life at risk and taking them to showdown.
Doug Polk: K♠K♣
Thanh Lam: K♥3♥
The board ran 4♠3♠Q♥J♦4♦. Polk's kings held. Polk doubled through Lam, saying that his second thought today would be Jimmy, without whom he wouldn't find himself in this great spot today.
