Altman Looks Away, Then Looks Alive
Level 16
: Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Joseph Altman moved all in from early position for his last 105,000, and action folded around to Yinan Zhou on the button. After a moment of thought, Zhou made the call and the cards went on their backs.
Joseph Altman: 4♥4♦
Yinan Zhou: A♥A♠
Altman stood up, likely assuming his run was over against Zhou’s pocket aces. He didn’t even watch the flop, but when he looked back at the table, the 4♣3♠Q♦ board was already out, and he realized he had flopped a set.
The 6♥ turn and\J♣ river changed nothing, and Altman completed a surprise double-up, keeping his tournament hopes alive.
