Hawker Scores Huge Double Through Chung

One of the chip leaders heading into the last break was Michael Hawker, who scored a huge double against Luke Chung in a battle of the blinds as recorded by Francis Anderson and recalled by Christopher DeMaci.
Chung had a gutshot royal flush draw with A♦10♦ after the Q♠Q♦J♦4♠ turn while Hawker was ahead with J♠8♥ when his check-shove in a battle of the blinds triggered the massive pot in the previous level. Hawker jumped out of his chair and already gasped that he was out of the tournament, but that actually didn't happen as his marginal lead held up thanks to the 10♣ on the river.
