Arai Doubles Through Merson
Level 30
: Blinds 100,000/200,000, 200,000 ante
Greg Merson limped in from under the gun holding A♠Q♦, and the action folded around to Kohei Arai in the hijack. With just 2,500,000 behind, Arai moved all in holding 7♥7♣, and Merson made the call.
Arai was ahead with his pocket sevens, and the 6♣3♣J♣ flop kept him in front and also gave him a flush draw. The 9♥ turn was also safe, but the A♣ river paired Merson, only to complete Arai's flush.
What looked like a brutal beat for Arai turned into a much-needed double-up.
