Hallaert Beats Kassouf in a Long Showdown
Kenny Hallaert raised to 550,000 in the cutoff with 7♣5♣ and Giovanni Pupo on the button moved all-in to force folds all around with his A♠J♠.
Hallaert opened to 550,000 in the next hand and Will Kassouf had been dancing behind his chair for a while until it was his turn to act. He was still standing when he made the call on the button and then double-checked his cards before they headed to the A♦Q♦3♥ flop.
Hallaert continued for 500,000 and Kassouf leaned back and forth to look at the tournament screen while they were on a pay jump before checking his cards once more. The reluctant call led them to the 8♠ turn on which Kassouf was staring at Hallaert while being the only player standing at the secondary feature table, awaiting the next move of the chip leader.
Hallaert checked and Kassouf kept staring at him for a good minute, glanced back again to the screen which showed 45 players left and then knuckled it back to the K♣ on the river. Hallaert then checked the second street in a row and Kassouf checked back to get shown the K♦10♣ by Hallaert, exposing his Q♠J♣ for an inferior pair.
After the hand was over, a tournament floor came over to the table to talk to Kassouf, presumably about him standing throughout the hand.
