Safian Doubles Through Vertes

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

With the flop showing K83, Jeffrey Vertes had bet 2,000 and Manuel Safian in the big blind check-jammed for 18,100. That sent Vertes into the tank for most of his short stack and he eventually called.

Manuel Safian: 75 All in
Jeffrey Vertes: AQ

The nut flush draw of Vertes bricked on the 10 turn and 8 river, and the last eight blinds he had left over vanished shortly after.

Ybarra Eliminated by Graham

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

On a four-way flop of 963, Anthony Graham bet 2,500 with the 1010 and Scott O'Brien called with the KK.

Ruben Ybarra in the big blind then jammed for 18,300 with the Q8 and Graham called. O'Brien double-checked his cards and then folded the over pair.

The 7 turn and 7 river changed nothing and that spelled the end for Ybarra.

Huck Seed Eliminated

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Huck Seed
Huck Seed

Alex Lindop raised from under the gun. Huck Seed, the 1996 main event champion, moved all in from the small blind with his last 8,000 or so chips. Lindop made the call.

Huck Seed: AQAll in
Alex Lindop: AA

Seed needed significant help and almost got it from a runout 7310J5 that gave him a gutshot straight draw on the turn. It didn't get there and his main event is over.

Zeng Coolers Cabrini for the KO

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Linglin Zeng
Linglin Zeng

Action picked up on the turn with a little over 8,000 in the middle in a hand between Andre Cabrini from the small blind and Linglin Zeng from the big blind.

With the board reading A97Q, Cabrini led for 5,000 before Zeng min-raised to 10,000. Cabrini then shoved for his remaining 22,500 and Zeng snapped it off.

Andre Cabrini: 97 All in
Linglin Zeng: 99

It was a brutal cooler with Cabrini flopping two pair, only to be drawing dead against Zeng's set of nines. The two saw the irrelevant 5 on the river as Cabrini left the room in unfortunate fashion.

Jaffe Takes Out Thivyanathan on the River

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Jonathan Jaffe
Jonathan Jaffe

Cards where already on their backs with Aaron Thivyanathan all in for his remaining 33,000 in the cutoff and up against Jonathan Jaffe in late position.

Aaron Thivyanathan: AKAll in
Jonathan Jaffe: A10

Thivyanathan was ahead, and he held on the 2J5 flop.

The 5 fell on the turn and Thivyanathan was looking good for a double up.

Things changed for Thivyanathan when the 10 came on the river as it gave Jaffe two pair, and Thivyanathan was sent to the rail midway through the second day of the tournament.

Jacks No Good for Dillion

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Anthony Diotte raised from middle position to 2,600, and Brian Dillion tossed out just enough to be classified as a minimum raise, meaning to just call. The floor was called, and it was deemed a minimum raise to 4,000.

Diotte then went into the tank and four-bet to 9,000. Dillion instantly moved all in, and Diotte snap called.

Brian Dillion: JJAll in
Anthony Diotte: KK

No help came for Dillion on the Q3A310 runout, and he was sent to the rail.
