Aciton was picked up on the flop in a pot between Michael Squizzato from under the gun, Jeremy Ausmus in middle position, and Kenneth O'Donnell in late position.
The flop read 7♣J♠Q♣ and Squizzato moved all in for 28,000 which saw Ausmus call. O'Donnell moved all in for 72,000 effective and Ausmus went into the tank for some time before folding what he said was ace-queen.
Michael Squizzato: A♣A♦
Kenneth O'Donnell: 7♥7♦
O'Donnell held up on the 4♥4♣ runout and Squizzato was eliminated from the tournament while Ausmus was left as one of the shorter stacks at the table.
Pedro Garcia opened to 3,000 from the cutoff and Arash Asadabadi moved all in for his remaining 38,000 stack. Garcia called and the players flipped their hands.
Arash Asadabadi: Q♣Q♠
Pedro Garcia: 8♠8♥
Asadabadi was looking to hold but, Garcia took the lead on the 7♣8♦3♠ flop.
There was no redemption for Asadabadi as the turn came 2♣ and the river saw the 10♦.
Coming back from the dinner break, the field on Day 2d has been trimmed to less than 3,000 players still remaining with the better part of two levels still to play. 2015 WSOP Main Event champion Joe McKeehen was among the notables who will not be advancing to Day 3 of this event.
Patrick Steele raised to 3,000 from middle position only to be three-bet by Man Tse to 9,000 in late position and then four-bet to 28,000 by Christopher Meyers in the big blind.
Steele folded, and Tse thought for a short while before he announced that he was all-in. He had Meyers covered. Meyers snap called.
Christopher Meyers: K♠K♦
Man Tse: Q♣Q♥
It was not the flop Meyers wanted to see when the 6♥2♠Q♠ peeled off. The 4♦ on the turn did nothing to change matters, and when the 5♠ bricked out on the river, Meyers was sent to the rail in a nasty fashion
Niall Farrell open-shoved for 17,500 in early position.
"It's time for a big boy move," he commented as the action folded to Timur Margolin in the small blind. He called with the covering stack, and the players showed down.
Niall Farrell: A♣K♦
Timur Margolin: 7♠7♣
Margolin flopped a set on 4♠7♥10♠, and Farrell was left drawing dead on the K♠ turn. The triple crown winner would not add a WSOP Main Event win to his resume, and he said his goodbyes as the 3♥ river completed the board.
As one of the far shortest stacks in the field, Yu Lo was all-in and at risk for only 7,000 on the live stream table.
Yu Lo: 4♦4♣
David Williams: A♠6♦
The A♥J♣7♠ flop improved Williams to the superior pair, who then also improved to two pair with the 6♥ turn. The river was the 3♥ and that spelled the end for Lo.
Action was recapped by the table.
Brett Feder raised to 3,500 in the hijack and on the button, Joe McKeehen three-bet to 12,500. Action folded back around to Feder who four-bet to 38,500 and McKeehen called.
The flop rolled out Q♣8♣6♣ and Feder moved all in for 115,000 effective and McKeehen called to put himself at risk.
Brett Feder: Q♥Q♦
Joe McKeehen: A♠A♥
No help was brought to the 2015 WSOP Main Event champion on the runout of 3♥9♠ and Feder raked in a massive pot while McKeehen was eliminated from the tournament.
Also eliminated shortly after at the same table was 8th place finisher in the 2022 WSOP Main Event, Aaron Duczak.
The full board 7♥A♥5♣J♣3♠ was on display, when Maurice Hawkins bet 7,000 from the big blind. Jesse Jones raised enough to put Hawkins all in were he to make the call. He did.
Maurice Hawkins: Q♥J♥
Jesse Jones: A♠7♠
Hawkins had flopped a flush draw and turned a pair of jacks, but that was not good enough against the two pair Jones hit when the dealer displayed the first three cards.
Taylor Mcclain moved all in for her remaining 11,500 chips from middle position and got a call from Raul Lozano in the small blind.
Taylor Mcclain: A♥6♥
Raul Lozano: A♣A♠
The J♣A♦3♥ flop saw both improve, but Lozano remained ahead, having flopped a set of aces.
There was a small glimmer of hope with the heart on the flop, but no more came to save Mcclain on the 7♣ turn and 9♦ river, sending her to the rail.
