Defending Champ Jonathan Tamayo Wins Lucky Flip for WSOP Main Event Seat

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Jonathan Tamayo

Reigning World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champion Jonathan Tamayo flipped his way into this year's championship event, meaning he won't even have to put up the $10,000 buy-in to defend his title.

Tamayo announced on Sunday that he won a WSOP Online $160 All-In Flipament, a flip-and-go-style event that puts players all-in blind and that needs 64 players to run, according to Kevin Mathers.

Tamayo demonstrated his luck a year ago when he navigated the largest WSOP Main Event field in history to win $10 million. The longtime poker pro from Texas proved luck is still on his side in 2025.

"I won the 3pm one it seems," Tamayo wrote on X.

Straight Flush for Olivetti

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Nicholas Olivetti began the action with a raise to 40,000 from the button and was called from the big blind by Jiho Lam.

The flop fanned out 610Q, which led to a check from Lam. Olivetti chose to bet 60,000 and was called by Lam to send them to a turn.

Lam checked the K turn and faced a bet of 100,000 from Olivetti. Lam responded with an all-in and was called by Olivetti.

Nicholas Olivetti: 109All in
Jiho Lam: K9

Olivetti held a pair plus a flush draw, but it was Lam that had the best of it with top pair.

Olivetti was stunned by the river as it came the J to give him a straight flush, which caused him to stand up in disbelief.

Jiho Lam was left with 167,000 following the hand, but he was seen leaving the tournament area shortly after the hand as he busted from the tournament.

Zhang Holds to Double Against Keating

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Alex Keating raised from early position to 45,000. The table folded to Congya Zhang in the cutoff, who opted to go all in for her final 155,000. Keating gave it some thought before he decided on a call to put Zhang at risk.

Congya Zhang: A7All in
Alex Keating: KJ

Zhang held the slight edge preflop with ace high, and the flop did not compromise that as it came 466.

The 3 gave Zhang unnecessary outs to a straight with the leading hand, and the A on the river punctuated the hand in Zhang's favor to award the double.

Perez Doubles Through Paul; Paul Gets Through Fan

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

There was roughly 250,000 already in the pot on the board of A7Q between Abhishek Paul and Roger Perez. Perez jammed and was called by Paul to send them to a showdown.

Roger Perez: A10All in
Abhishek Paul: 96

Perez held the best hand with top pair, but Paul was drawing to spades for a flush.

The A upgraded Perez to trips to eliminate some spade outs, and the K river finished the hand in the favor of Perez.

The very next hand, Paul jammed for his final 35,000 from the small blind and was called by Ben Fan in the big blind.

Abhishek Paul: 109All in
Ben Fan: 65

Paul managed to rebound with a double when the board ran out QKQ87.

Zhang on a Roll

Level 21 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Stefan Lehner raised from the cutoff to 43,000, Yu Zhang made the call from the small blind, and Diego Emperador also came along to see the flop from the big blind. The flop came out with 5KQ and both blinds checked to Lehner, who bet out 35,000. Only Zhang stayed for the turn.

The turn 6 saw both players check.

On the river J, Zhang took the lead and bet out 45,000, Lehner called, only to see the bad news.

Zhang turned over KJ for two pair, and Lehner mucked.
