Fung Builds an Early Stack; Marchesano Restarts

Level 7 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Altynai Fung
Altynai Fung

Altynai Fung has built an early stack in the tournament and currently sits high within the counts. Katharina Clark also joins her on the felt at the same table. Clark isn't a regular to the WSOP, with this being her largest recorded tournament buy in. Her first recorded event was back in 2016 where she min-cashed the WSOP $1,000 No Limit Hold'em Tag Team event. Since then, she hasn't been seen on the felt at the WSOP. They are in good company with many other notable ladies in the tournament.

Fung took a small tumble when she doubled up Vincent Marchesano after Marchesano moved all in from the cutoff for 9,000 and Fung called on the button.

Vincent Marchesano: QJAll in
Altynai Fung: A10

Despite Fung looking at a straight draw on the KQ2 flop, Marchesano had picked up queens and held on the 10 9 runout.

Marchesano left the hand with starting stack.

Deeb Re-Enters after Running into Kings

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb

Shaun Deeb opened to 2,000 from under the gun and Oleg Vasylchenko three-bet to 5,500 from the cutoff. Deeb four-bet to 14,000 and Vasylchenko asked Deeb "How much behind?", with Deeb responding "About 50k".

Vasylchenko five-bet jammed for his remaining 80,000 stack, and Deeb snap called.

Shaun Deeb: QQAll in
Oleg Vasylchenko: KK

Deeb was behind and didn't find any help on the J24 flop.

Vasylchenko stayed ahead on the A turn and 5 river, sending Deeb to the rail.

Deeb rebought and took a new seat in the tournament only moments later.

Angel Lopez Wins a Small Pot

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Angel Lopez
Angel Lopez

Angel Lopez opened from the cutoff to 2,000 and got only one call from Christopher Hancock in the small blind. The dealer revealed the flop 7K4.

Lopez threw again 2 yellow chips of 1,000 in the pot, and Hancock called again. The turn showed Q and both players checked to the river 8 and checked. Lopez flipped his cards Q10 and Hancock mucked his straight away. This was a small win for Lopez.

Angel Lopez's total live winnings are $345,718, and his best live cash is $32,379. Lopez played a lot of online WSOP bracelet events in 2024, with great results. Hopefully, he can mimic this journey in this live tournament.

"See You at the Final Table"

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Martin Kabrhel
Martin Kabrhel

Martin Kabrhel moved all in from early position for his remaining 23,800 stack. Justin Chang called his remaining 14,800 chips sitting to his direct left.

Justin Chang: QQAll in
Martin Kabrhel: 66

Chang held on the J109710, leaving Kabrhel with 9,000.

Kabrhel called his own fate when he said "All in, last hand" as he moved in his stack from under the gun. He was quickly called by Wenjie Kan in the hijack.

Martin Kabrhel: 109All in
Wenjie Kan: KJ

Kabrhel picked up a ten on the 3J10 flop, but Kan also hit a jack.

The K turn saw Kabrhel stand from the table, and the 3 river sealed his fate. He remarked, "Put me out!" to the dealer. So he could rebuy and take his seat at another table.

He walked away and said to the remaining players, "See you at the final table.”
