Things have slowed down on the tournament floor as players tighten up and eye those next pay jumps. Not much to report at the moment, but sit tight, PokerNews will be back with the action as soon as cards start flying again.
Simon Wilson started the action by raising to 600,000 in early position and it went to Bogdan Munteanu who three-bet to 1,825,000 in the small blind. Ankit Ahuja decided to four-bet to 6,200,000, with around 750,000 left behind.
It was enough to win the pot right away as Wilson and Munteanu folded.
George Tomescu raised from the hijack. Mikhail Zavoloka in the cutoff three-bet to 1,500,000, but Tomescu four-bet all-in. Zavoloka called off his last 5,225,000.
Mikhail Zavoloka: K♥K♠
George Tomescu: J♣J♥
Zavoloka's kings kept the lead on 7♥9♣5♥5♠8♣ and he doubled up.
Action folded to Mikhail Zavoloka in the hijack and he opened to 600,000. Jacopo Achille responded with a three-bet to 1,800,000 from the cutoff. After a brief pause, Zavoloka moved all in, putting Achille at risk. Achille double-checked his cards, then made the call.
Jacopo Achille: A♦K♥
Mikhail Zavoloka: 10♠10♥
Achille was trailing preflop and needed to connect with the board to stay alive. The flop came Q♦J♦Q♠, giving him a gutshot and several backdoor outs but no immediate help.
The 6♣ on the turn kept Zavoloka ahead, but the K♣ on the river changed everything, giving Achille top pair and the winning hand. He scored a massive double-up and brought himself to the top of the chip counts.
Simon Wilson raised to 600,000 and it folded to Bogdan Munteanu who called in the big blind to see a flop 8♦2♥3♥. Munteanu check-called Wilson for 525,000.
On the 10♠ turn, Munteanu tanked and check-called Wilson once more, this time for 1,525,000.
The A♠ completed the board and both checked. Munteanu tabled A♣10♦ for two pair and Wilson mucked his cards.
