Kihara Has Shak Drawing Dead

Level 23 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 75,000 ante
Naoya Kihara
Naoya Kihara

Naoya Kihara raised to 150,000 under the gun and Dan Shak three-bet to 500,000 from the hijack. When it got back to Kihara, he four-bet all in for 1,200,000, and Shak made the call. Kihara stood pat and Shak drew one.

Naoya Kihara: 7x6x5x3x2x All in
Dan Shak: 9x6x4x2x

Shak caught an Ax, but it was irrelevant as he was already drawing dead against the seven-six of Kihara. Shak was down to just over a million, while Kihara was up to 2,500,000.

Two More for Lin

Level 23 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 75,000 ante

Action folded around to Naoya Kihara on the button, who raised to 150,000. David Lin took some time in the small blind before announcing all in for around 1,400,000.

Kihara did not take long to let his hand go, as Lin picked up the pot.

On the next hand, Lin opened to 110,000 on the button and Ryutaro Suzuki, defending his big blind, called. Both players drew one card, and Suzuki checked.

Lin counted out a bet of 205,000, taking down another pot as Suzuki folded.

Lin drew two cards and Shak decided to take one.

Lin checked, and Shak quickly bet 150,000. Lin thought for quite some time before making the call, which proved to be good, as Shak showed 7x7x for a pair, losing to Lin's Ax8x6x3x2x.

Per Hildebrand moved all in after an open from Shaun Deeb on the first hand back from dinner, getting the shove through to add to his short stack.

One hand later, Ryutaro Suzuki raised to 150,000 in the small blind and Deeb called in the big blind. Suzuki stood pat, while Deeb drew a single card.

Suzuki led out for 90,000, and Deeb replied with a raise to 325,000. After taking a minute, Suzuki moved almost all of his stack into the middle, three-betting to 875,000 while leaving a single 5,000 chip behind.

Deeb studied his opponent before making the call. Suzuki tabled 7x6x4x3x2x to virtually double his stack as Deeb mucked.

Texas Hold'em may be far and away the most popular variant of poker, but true grinders know the joy of switching it up with variants like Omaha, Stud and 2-7.

Some of poker's most decorated players have made mixed games their bread and butter. This includes Poker Hall of Famer Phil Ivey, who won three bracelets in a single summer way back in 2002, as well as Scott Seiver and Benny Glaser, who pulled off the same feat the last two summers.

From four-time $50,000 Poker Players Championship winner Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi to back-to-back-to-back Dealers Choice Championship winner Adam Friedman, here are some of the top mixed game players to look out for at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) this summer — and you can conveniently track them using the new PokerNews MyPlayers feed.
