Marco Johnson Bags a Top 10 Stack on Day 1 of the $600 NLHE Deepstack

He may have earned more than $5.5 million in live poker tournaments. He may also have two World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets and be a $25K Fantasy Draft pick, but Marco Johnson is among the early chip leaders after Day 1 of Event #10: $600 Deepstack No-Limit Hold'em.

Poker fans are more used to seeing Johnson's name high in chip counts in events commanding a buy-in 10 times this tournament's $600, but here he is, bagging up a top 10 stack after Day 1. Johnson finished the night with 1,535,000 chips, trailing only a handful of players, including chip leader Adam Cohen (2,300,000).

According to the WSOP LIVE app, Cohen has no previous in-the-money finishes to his name, but that changed today as the top 694 finishers received a min-cash, and the day wrapped up with 230 players. Cohen and the other surviving players are now guaranteed $1,613 for their efforts, and are edging closer to this event's bracelet and $259,829 top prize.
