Faraz Jaka raised to 40,000 from under the gun and was three-bet by Yuanzhi Cao in the hijack to 135,000. Jaka responded with a four-bet to 375,000, prompting Cao to give up his hand.
At a nearby table, Tyler Patterson was on the button and went heads-up to a monotone flop of 2♦J♦10♦ against Bruno Furth in the small blind. Furth check-raised to 110,000 over Patterson's bet of 35,000 to take it down.
Bruno Furth raised from early position to 40,000, and Junfeng Wang defended from the small blind with a call. The flop came out with 5♦6♠5♥, and both players checked.
On the turn 3♣, Wang checked, and Furth threw out 35,000. Wang called.
Both players checked the river 10♠.
Wang showed A♠J♠ for ace high, and Furth showed A♥3♥ for two pair and the win.
Edgard Saliba was already all in from middle position for his remaining stack of approximately 450,000 and he was covered by Bruno Furth in the small blind.
Edgard Saliba: Q♦Q♠
Bruno Furth: K♥K♣
Saliba was coming up short at showdown and the low 4♠9♠7♦4♣5♥ runout wasn't any help for him, leaving Furth to scoop the pot with his kings.
The hand was picked up with Anthony Larocca moving all in on a flop of 7♦J♥6♥ in a heads-up pot. Yuanzhi Cao made the call.
Anthony Larocca: J♣J♦
Yuanzhi Cao: K♣K♠
Unfortunately for Larocca, Cao's overpair was bigger than his. The turn and river jK♦Q♦ just made matters worse, with Cao hitting a set of kings to send him on his way.
Konstantin Cugunov raised from early position to 40,000, Tom Hall called from the small blind, and Antonios Poziadis called from the big blind. The flop arrived with A♦4♣9♣, and both blinds checked to the preflop raiser Cugunov, who bet 35,000. Only Hall remained to see the turn.
On the turn 7♠, Hall checked again, and Cugunov bet 130,000. Hall called.
Both players checked the river 8♣. Cugunov turned over A♥7♥ for two pair, and Hall mucked.
Tyler Montoya, whose joyous pronouncement after pulling a $1 million mystery bounty at the WSOP a year ago will be long remembered, figured it was just a matter of time.
As it was his time, he seemed to enjoy his exit.
The action folded around to Ruslan Zakharchuk who just called on the button. Montoya in the small blind, laughed at the limp.
"You did that just because you want to bust me?" he asked.
Montoya then just completed himself with 10,000, holding back his last 5,000 chip to more laughter.
Yuanzhi Cao checked from the big blind.
The flop came 6♣3♦K♠. Montoya plopped his final chip into the pot. Cao and Zakharchuk called.
When the 5♣ hit on the turn, Cao checked, Zakharchuk bet 25, and Cao folded.
Tyler Montoya: A♠6♦
Ruslan Zakharchuk: K♥6♥
Zakharchuk had flopped two pair. Montoya had a pair of sixes and some outs, but the 10♥ hit the board to end his tournament.
Its been a killer level for a number of notables in the field as Main Event champions Jonathan Tamayo and Michael Mizrachi are among those to hit the rail.
Brandon Sheils raised from the button to 40,000, and Joe McKeehen three-bet to 140,000. Sheils four-bet all in for 660,000 effective, and McKeehen called immediately.
Joe McKeehen: 10♠10♥
Brandon Sheils: K♠J♠
Sheils managed to outdraw McKeehen with the board of 8♦J♥2♥Q♦6♦, and a pair of jacks won the pot for Sheils.
Hao-Shan Huang moved all in from under the gun for 170,000, Dragos-Florin Anton called next to act, and Joey Weissman three-bet jammed in the cutoff for 445,000 to put himself at risk. Anton made the call looking for a double knockout.
The flop came Q♠9♠2♦ with Anton's pair of aces still in the lead. The J♣ turn provided his opponents with some equity and the dreadful 10♦ fell on the river, giving Huang Broadway to triple up, and Weissman a set to scoop the side pot.
