Third Edition of $5,000 PLO Event Kicks Off at 12 p.m.

Expect a field of household names to turn out for Event #5 of the 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP), the $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed from 12 p.m. local time on May 28. This is only the third time this event has run at the WSOP, but each edition has proved popular and awarded more than $3 million.

Cards will be in the air at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, with the champion becoming known two days later on May 30. Both past winners of this event padded their bankrolls by more than $600,000. There should be a similarly-sized top prize in 2026.

Structure and Schedule

Day 1 of the $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed event shuffles up and deals at 12 p.m. local time on May 28. Each player starts with 50,000 chips and plays 40-minute levels, with blinds starting at 100/200 and a 200 big-blind ante. Fifteen levels are planned on Day 1, with 15-minute breaks every three levels. Whoever makes it to the end of Level 9 (approx. 6:30 p.m. local time) will enjoy a 60-minute dinner break.

Surviving players return to their seats at 12 p.m. local time on Friday, May 29, to play another 10 levels. Those levels increase to 60 minutes from Day 2 onward. The same 15-minute breaks are planned after every two levels, with an hour-long dinner break after Level 21 (approx. 6:30 p.m. local time), which gives players the chance to refuel and reset.

The third and final day's action commences at 12 p.m. local time on Saturday, May 30, with the plan to continue playing until only one player remains. Again, players head on 15-minute breaks every two levels, and the decision about a dinner break will be made during play.

Past Champions & History

Only two players have triumphed in this event previously, with the $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed making its debut at the 2024 WSOP. Bryce Yockey outlasted 732 opponents in 2024 and walked away with $606,654. Calub Furth, also known as Bruno Furth, is the reigning champion. Furth got the better of 756 opponents 12 months ago; he collected $620,696 and his second bracelet.

Furth was down to 1.25 big blinds at one point, but managed to spin up to victory.

“Yeah, at that point, pressure was off. We had ten left, so I was sure that I was going to be the next one out, so I was willing to gamble – I did. Doubled up back to average…an unbelievable journey. I’m elated.”
