Schwartz Takes From Wattel

Level 7

2-7 Lowball Triple Draw

Mike Wattel raised and was called by Benny Glaser on the button as well as Luke Schwartz in the small blind. Glaser took one while his two opponents took two. Schwartz checked, Wattel bet and Glaser raised for Schwartz to call. Wattel then made it three bets and picked up two calls.

Schwartz took one while Wattel patted and Glaser took two. Only Schwartz then check-called a bet by Wattel and patted for Wattel to take one new card. Once Schwartz checked, Wattel bet again and Schwartz groaned.

"I mean I am not folding anyways ..." he said and eventually called to roll over his 8x6x4x3x2x. Wattel didn't show his entire board but seemed to be pipped narrowly.

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

2-7 Lowball Triple Draw

Daniel Negreanu raised under the gun. Kane Kalas then three-bet in the hijack, and Viktor Blom called cold on the button. Negreanu also called before he tossed two cards on the first draw. Kalas also drew two, while Blom drew one.

Negreanu then led out with a bet, which Kalas and Blom both called. Negreanu and Blom each took one card, with Kalas requesting two in between.

The final draw saw Negreanu and Kalas draw one card each. Blom remained pat behind, after which Negreanu led out again. Kalas quickly folded, but Blom looked Negreanu up.

Negreanu declared the third nuts and tabled 7x6x5x3x2x to prove it. Blom's cards quickly hit the muck as he was left with just over three big bets.

Star-Studded Field Returns for Day 2 of $50,000 Poker Players Championship

Benny Glaser

At 1 p.m. local time, the global mixed games elite will return to the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas to showcase their talent in arguably the most sought-after contest of the year as Event #60: $50,000 Poker Players Championship continues with Day 2.

The key numbers are almost identical to last year, with 66 players out of 87 entries remaining, which has created a prize pool of $4,180,000 thus far. However, all of that is still subject to change as late registration is open for another three levels.

Leading the way so far as the only player coming close to a seven-figure stack is Matt Glantz with 989,000, and he is followed by British mixed-game prodigy Benny Glaser, who returns second in chips with 826,000. Plenty of other big names can be found in the overnight top ten such as Chino Rheem (763.,000), Chris Brewer (694,500) and Josh Arieh (652,500).

During the final stages of the opening day last night, defending champion Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi was eliminated, so he won't be returning to defend his title, of which he has already earned four in a historic feat. His brother Robert Mizrachi was also among the casualties, as was former champion Elior Sion. Since only one entry is allowed, none of them have another shot at glory in 2026.

However, among those returning is the 2024 champion and none other than GGPoker ambassador Daniel Negreanu (247,000), who experienced a roller-coaster ride throughout Day 1. He returns with less than the starting stack, but still has his eyes set on another victory.

Many other big names of the international mixed games scene can be found on the leaderboard such as Jason Mercier, Bryce Yockey, John Monnette, David Benyamine, Phil Hui, and Eli Elezra to name all but a few.

They will once again be showcasing their talents in nine different poker variants which change every orbit, including No-Limit Hold’em, Seven Card Stud, Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better, Razz, Pot-Limit Omaha, Limit Hold’em, No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw, Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better, and 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw.

All those wishing to join the action have another three levels of 100 minutes each on Day 2 to enter, and it remains to be seen whether or not the field size will eclipse the 107 entries of the 2025 edition, which generated a prize pool of $5,162,750 one year ago. Six levels are scheduled, and all players entering will start their journey with 300,000 in chips.

Follow along right here on PokerNews as the live reporting team will be on the floor for arguably one of the most important live poker tournaments of the year.
