Self Crushing

Level 14

No-Limit Hold'em

Wes Self appears to be on the uptick at Table 628 where he just amassed a stack of around 130,000 after besting Justin Bonomo in a no-limit hold'em pot. The board had come {10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Self bet 15,000 into about 30,000 from the button. Bonomo didn't think long before mucking, and he's down a decent amount from his peak.

Hirleman Survives

Level 14

No-Limit Hold'em

Daniel Hirleman found himself all in from the big blind in a pot involving Konstantin Maslak and Justin Bonomo.

On the {8-Spades}{A-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop, Maslak bet 2,300 from the cutoff and Bonomo check-called from the small blind.

The turn landed the {Q-Clubs} and Bonomo checked to Maslak who moved all in for roughly 19,600. Bonomo folded.

Maslak: {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}
Hirleman: {J-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

The river landed the {3-Diamonds} and Hirleman tripled to roughly 11,000 while Maslak slipped with roughly 26,000 in chips.

Defending Champ Out

Level 14
Lawrence Berg
Lawrence Berg

A-5 Triple Draw

Lawrence Berg, who won this event last year, has been eliminated from the tournament in 45th place.

Speaking to Anthony Arvidson, he informed our PokerNews reporter that in a capped pot he made a steel wheel — {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{5-Hearts} — while Berg managed to make a seven-low and called all in after the first draw.

With Berg now on the rail, a new champion will be crowned this year, although a repeat champion is still possible as Robert Mizrachi still remains in the tournament.

Not-So-Nice Hand Good for Hang

Level 14

Badeucey

Tommy Hang defended his big blind from a button raise by Raoul Encinas. Hang took three and Encinas two. Both players checked then took two. Hang came out betting and Encinas called. Hang patted and Encinas took one. Two checks finished the end and Hang turned over {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for a king-king. Encinas showed what looked like {a-}{8-}{7-}{7-}{5-} and then seemed upset as if he had possibly misread his hand.

He told Hang he had a nice hand.

"I don't think that's a nice hand in any book," Hang said with a laugh.

Ferguson Misses Freeroll

Level 14

Stud Hi-Lo Regular

Catching the action on fifth street, Paul Sokoloff bet 5,000 and Chris Ferguson called before being all in on sixth as both players' boards read as follows:

Sokoloff: {A-Spades}{3-Diamonds} / {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Ferguson: {7-Clubs}{4-Spades} / {5-Hearts}{3-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

With Ferguson having a lock on the low, he would need any six to take the lead for the high if Sokoloff didn't improve.

Ferguson caught the {10-Spades} and Sokoloff the {Q-Clubs} to see the pot chopped up.

Newman Doubles Through Evans

Level 14

Badacey

There was a huge pot between Clayton Newman (button) and start-of-day leader Troy Evans (big blind), and Newman pushed all of his remaining chips in on the river. Evans called.

Newman showed {6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{a-Spades} for a six-six. Evans turned over {7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for a seven-low and inferior six-badugi. He asked for all of the bets to be counted, and Newman had 27,300 in there total. Evans pushed in the requisite chips, and the former chip leader now finds himself one of the shorter stacks.

Chop It Up

Level 14

Omaha Hi-Lo

Konstantin Maslak raised to 5,000 from middle position and Todd Bui defended his big blind.

The flop fell {J-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and Bui led for 2,500 and Maslak called.

The turn landed the {A-Spades} and Bui tossed in 5,000 with Maslak quickly calling as the {10-Hearts} completed the board on the river.

Bui bet 5,000 and Maslak called.

Bui tabled his {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Maslak his {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} to see the pot chopped up.
