James Obst Eliminated in 8th Place ($32,474)

Level 21 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante
James Obst
James Obst

No-Limit Hold'em

From the button, James Obst shoved all in for his last 109,000. Matusow asked for a count then decided on a flat-call. Schuyler Thornton folded his big blind, leaving Matusow and Obst heads up.

Matusow: {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Obst: {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}

The flop was a good one for Matusow when it came {7-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} giving him a flush draw. He also picked up outs to a chop on the {4-Spades} turn. But the river was the {9-Hearts}, giving him two pairs, and awarding him the entire pot and eliminating Obst in eighth place.

Matusow gave Obst a big hug after the hand and Obst shook hands with both Klodnicki and Thornton and wished them luck. He will take home $32,474 for his eighth-place finish.

Matusow Over Obst

Level 21 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante

Badugi

From the small blind, James Obst limped in. Mike Matusow raised and Obst called.

On the first draw, Obst took two while Matusow took one. Obst checked, Matusow bet, and Obst called.

On the second draw, both players took one. This time Obst bet and Matusow called.

On the last draw, both players took one again. Obst checked. Matusow bet. Obst sighed, then called. Matusow showed {A-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} for a three-card badugi and that earned a muck from Obst.

"I was happy with the first three but I was even happier when I drew the second ace," Matusow said.

Both players checked to the turn of a {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts} board where Crain bet. Zhukov check-called to see the {K-Spades} river where he check-called another bet.

Crain tabled {A-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts} for a set of fours, Zhukov mucked, and Crain collected the pot.

Klodnicki Scoops Thornton

Level 21 : 15,000/30,000, 0 ante

Badacey

Schuyler Thornton raised and was three-bet by Chris Klodnicki. Thornton called.

Thornton took two cards on the first draw while Klodnicki took one. Thornton checked, Klodnicki bet, and Thornton called.

On the second draw, Thornton took two again while Klodnicki took one. Again, Thornton checked, Klodnicki bet, and Thornton called.

Both players stood pat on the last draw. Thornton checked-called a third bet from Klodnicki.

"Eight, eight," Klodnicki said. Showing {8-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{A-Hearts} for an eight low and an eight badugi. That was good enough to take down the whole pot.
