Tanaka Runs into Bhargava's Straight

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better:

Fast-paced action between Sachin Bhargava and Masayoshi Tanaka saw the latter eliminated in 24th place.

Tanaka raised on fifth street, and Bhargava instantly three-bet, covering his opponent. Tanaka called but saw the bad news right away as Bhargava had already made an eight-high straight. Tanaka had a pair of eights and improved to queens up, but that was all he could get.

Belianin Takes from Luneau

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Razz:

Alexandre Luneau completed with a {2-}, and Georgii Belianin raised with his own {2-}. Luneau obliged, and they carried on to the following streets. Luneau took the betting lead on fourth and fifth streets, and Belianin stuck around. The last two streets brought bets from Belianin, and Luneau called them both.

Luneau: {X-}{X-} / {2-}{7-}{3-}{7-} / {X-}
Belianin: {A-}{8-} / {2-}{K-}{6-}{4-} / {6-}

Belianin showed his eighty-six for the winning hand, as Luneau threw his into muck.

Andrey Zhigalov Eliminated by Ron Ware

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

2-7 Triple Draw:

Ron Ware raised in the small blind, and Andrey Zhigalov called in the big blind.

Ware drew one and Zhigalov two. Ware bet, and Zhigalov was all in for 600 chips more. Ware called.

Ware drew one, and Zhigalov two again. Those draws repeated that on the final round, too.

Ware showed {8-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}, and Zhigalov was live with {7-}{6-}{4-}. His first card, a {2-}, was the best he could have hoped for, but the {k-} was not the second he needed, and he was eliminated.

Players are now redrawing for the final three tables.

Chip Jett Times Two

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

No-Limit Hold'em:

Chip Jett was in the cutoff, and he opened to 7,000. Masayoshi Tanaka flatted from the big blind, and the two saw the {J-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} fall on the flop. Tanaka led out for 11,000, and Jett called.

The {5-Diamonds} appeared on the turn, and Tanaka continued with a second barrel worth 33,000. Jett paused for a moment, then announced he was all in. It was 32,300 more, and Tanaka eventually called.

Jett had flopped top two pair with {Q-Spades}{J-Spades} and had Tanaka in bad shape, as he held {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}. Tanaka's hope for a king didn't materialize on the {3-Diamonds} river, securing Jett's double.

Bhargava Invites Vitch to Valuetown

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Razz:

Sachin Bhargava just scooped a big pot, firing every street in a heads-up fight against Christopher Vitch. Vitch was the bring-in with the {Q-Diamonds}, and he called Bhargava's complete with the {2-Clubs}. Bhargava then hurdled through the remaining streets without missing out on a bet, using a bet-bet-bet-bet strategy. Vitch called the first three bets fairly quickly, and while it took him little longer to execute his decision on the seventh street, he eventually called again.

Bhargava: {7-}{6-} / {2-}{2-}{A-}{5-} / {2-}
Vitch: {X-}{X-} / {Q-}{7-}{10-}{8-} / {X-}

Bhargava won the pot with a seventy-six.

Zhigalov Wins an Important One

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Seven Card Stud:

Andrey Zhigalov was in the danger zone, but now his breath can be at least a little bit more relaxed. Zhigalov played a hand against Ron Ware in stud, and he approached it aggressively.

Ware completed with the {A-Hearts}, and Zhigalov raised with the {J-Clubs}. Zhigalov also bet fourth street, but then slowed down on fifth. Similar action occurred on the two remaining streets, as Zhigalov bet sixth but checked on seventh. Ware made only passive moves all the way through, calling Zhigalov's bets.

Ware: {X-}{X-} / {A-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades}{7-Spades} / {X-}
Zhigalov: {10-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} / {J-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{K-Spades} / {6-Hearts}

Zhigalov's pair of tens beat Ware's open pair of sixes, and the Russian player raked in a vital pot.
