Family Affair in the Pot-Limit Omaha

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

Looking down the seating draw for Day 1 of Event #25: $1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha we caught a glimpse of two players with the same surname seated at neighbouring tables. It turns out that Desmond and Raymond Kearney are father and son, out here playing the World Series.

"This is my first time," said the son, Raymond, "But my father is out here almost every year."

"We've played together back home. He won and I came third," he continued. "I'm just playing this, but he's sticking around to play the Seniors event."

We'll have to stay tuned to see if the pair can go deep in this tournament together.

Max Silver, two-time bracelet winner David "Bakes" Baker, and 2006 WSOP Player of the Year and four-time bracelet winner Jeff Madsen have all taken their seats. Two players who made the final table of last week's Event #19 $565 Pot-Limit Omaha are in the field as well — Jessie Bryant finished in sixth place and Igor Sharaskin took third.

Joey Ingram Up and Running

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

A player in middle position limped before another raised to 225. Joey Ingram announced pot and bet 750. The initial limper called and the raiser folded.

The flop came {6-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts} and Ingram's opponent check-called a bet of 825. The turn was the {k-Clubs} and the player checked again, but folded this time to a bet of 1,975 from Ingram.

With about 1,500 chips already in the middle and the board reading {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, the big blind checked to Raymond Davis who tossed out a single yellow 1,000 chip. One player behind him in middle position folded, after a few moments of thought, the big blind did the same and Davis took the pot.

"They're all scary boards in this game!" said a player at Men "The Master" Nguyen's table as Nguyen pulled in a pot.

Nguyen laughed in agreement and stacked the chips on top of his stack.

The Vietnamese-American has two cashes to his name this year, the best of which was a 60th-place finish in Event #16: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Six-Handed. He will be looking to add to his seven bracelets this year. The last time he topped a WSOP field was back in 2010 when he won the $10,000 Seven-Card Stud Championship for $394,807.
