Rocco Palumbo Doubles Through Russell Thomas

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

With a massive pot of about 80,000 already brewing and the board reading {Q-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}, Rocco Palumbo was in the big blind and facing a decision for his stack against Russell Thomas, who had put 85,000 chips into the middle. Palumbo had about 35,000 behind and went into the tank for several minutes.

Ultimately, he called and flipped over {5-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for fives full which was good enough to win the pot against Thomas who showed {A-Spades}{J-Spades} for a missed flush draw.

Dietrich Busts Esfandiari, Takes Chip Lead

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Antonio Esfandiari
Antonio Esfandiari

A preflop three-way all-in went down between Antonio Esfandiari, Moritz Dietrich, and Joseph Cappello. Dietrich had both players covered.

Dietrich: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Esfandiari: {a-}{k-}
Cappello: {j-}{j-}

The board ran out {8-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, giving Cappello a straight on the turn and a triple-up with the massive side pot going to Dietrich with his pair of kings.

Dietrich is now the tournament chip leader and Esfandiari has hit the rail.

John Racener Felts a Foe

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
John Racener
John Racener

Fabian Quoss and John Racener got all the chips in the middle before the flop and Racener had the larger of the two stacks.

Quoss: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Racener: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

Racener had a commanding lead preflop, and it was solidified when the flop fell {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{2-Spades} to give him top two pairs and leaving Quoss drawing thin. The {J-Hearts} turn and {3-Hearts} river changed nothing and Racener took the pot to eliminate Quoss.

Polk Flops the Nuts and Sends One Home

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Doug Polk
Doug Polk

With about 12,000 chips already in the middle and the board reading {K-}{J-}{9-}, Doug Polk bet 6,200 from under the gun and James Lex raised to 20,000 from the cutoff. Polk jammed and Lex quickly called to put himself at risk.

Polk: {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}
Lex: {K-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Polk had flopped the nut straight and Lex was trailing with one pair and a gutshot to the chop. The {A-} on the turn was no help to Lex and the {9-Diamonds} river ensured that Polk would scoop the pot to eliminate his opponent.
