Steve Jelinek Eliminated in 11th Place ($9,150)

Level 24 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Steve Jelinek - 11th Place
Steve Jelinek - 11th Place

Steve Jelinek had the small card with the {2-Spades} and completed for a full bet. Ernest Bohn called with the {8-Clubs}, and Bill Kohler raised with the {3-Hearts}. Jelinek put in his last 40,000 total, and Bohn called. It went check-check on fourth street, and Bohn took the lead with bets on fifth and sixth.

Jelinek: {x-}{x-}/{2-Spades}{7-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Bohn: {x-}{x-}/{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs}
Kohler: {x-}{x-}/{3-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

Kohler and Jelinek had open pairs, while Bohn was working with four to a straight.

Bohn and Kohler both checked on the end, with Bohn showing {9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} for fours and a low. Kohler had {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for just his open tens. Jelinek turned over {10-Spades}{3-Clubs}. He needed to improve to two pair or better to triple up. However, he pulled the {j-Diamonds}, and he wished everyone good luck.

Forrest Lays Down to Double Later

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Ted Forrest was down to micro stack after folding on fifth street against Justin Bonomo who bet-three-bet on fourth. Bonomo then fired another bet on fifth with three wheel cards on his board. Forrest thought for a bit but eventually decided to let his hand go. Limits were about to increase and Forrest had under two big bets left.

Ted Forrest: {X-}{X-} / {7-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{J-Spades} (folded on fifth street)
Justin Bonomo: {X-}{X-} / {3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

But Forrest knew where to go for chips, doubling through Max Pescatori in the following minutes. "Can you double through someone else, please?" smiled Pescatori.

The chips went in on fourth street when Pescatori hit open threes.

Ted Forrest: {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs} / {6-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
Max Pescatori: {A-Spades}{8-Spades} / {3-Hearts}{3-Spades}

Pescatori couldn't improve his high and didn't qualify for low either. Forrest spike another eight on sixth street to score the double.

Forrest Chops With Treccarichi, Doubles Through Pescatori

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Ted Forrest was all in on third street, trying to double up against Walter Treccarichi. Forrest started with a pair of sevens, but Treccharichi made sevens on the way, too. He also had seven-perfect low, and Forrest was sweating the river card. He found a fifth spade to split the pot with Treccarichi.

Forrest then challenged the other Italian player at the table, Max Pescatori, and his second attempt was a bigger success. Forrest's sevens up were good to scoop the pot, earning him a much-needed double.

Mistake Costs Jelinek a Bet

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Bill Kohler had four to a straight on board and bet against two opponents on sixth street after everyone checked fifth.

Kohler: {x-}{x-}/{8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Hal Rotholz: {x-}{x-}/{8-Spades}{q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Steve Jelinek: {x-}{x-}/{6-Spades}{9-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Everyone called to see seventh, and Rotholz came out betting. Jelinek dropped in 80,000 without saying anything, and Kohler made it three bets. Rotholz called, and Jelinek leaned back.

"I meant to call," he said softly.

After some time, he folded what he said was a set of jacks. Rotholz showed {4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} for an eight-high straight and a low, but he only got half, as Kohler had a seven for a nine-high straight.

Pescatori Takes from Finne, Gives to Zewin

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Max Pescatori won a pot against Tim Finne when Finne completed and Pescatori called. Pescatori then barreled every street, and Finne called down all the way to the showdown.

Tim Finne: {X-}{X-} / {J-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} / {X-}
Max Pescatori: {X-}{X-} / {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{A-Spades} / {X-}

Pescatori rolled over {5-Spades}{4-Spades}{J-Hearts} for a flush and a seven-six low to scoop Finne.

However, Pescatori gave his new chips to another player in the following hand, facing off with Don Zewin. It was cheaper for Pescatori this time, at least, as he fired only on sixth street when he paired his queens. Zewin called and checked back on seventh.

Max Pescatori: {X-}{X-} / {K-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} / {X-}
Don Zewin: {X-}{X-} / {3-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} / {X-}

Pescatori had nothing but the queens, while Zewin showed {7-}{6-}{6-} for sevens up.

"Horrible Cooler"

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Steve Jelinek and Bill Kohler got three bets apiece in on the end with the former betting, the latter raising, and Jelinek reraising.

Jelinek: {x-}{x-}/{3-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}/{x-}
Kohler: {x-}{x-}/{5-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}/{x-}

"Full house," Kohler announced after calling.

"Full house," came the response.

"Then yours has to be better than mine," Kohler said with a sigh, showing {6-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for sixes full. Indeed, Jelinek had {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for tens full.

"Horrible cooler," he said.

Finne Goes for the Maximum

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

What started as a three-way pot was reduced to heads-up as Don Zewin abandoned his hand on fifth street, leaving Tim Finne and Max Pescatori fighting on their own. Finne had open sixes and improved to sixes and fives on sixth street. Finne announced his bet on fifth with the word, "Maxiumum," and he did so again on sixth. Pescatori called on fifth but laid it down on the following street.

Max Pescatori: {X-}{X-} / {2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} (folded on sixth)
Tim Finne: {X-}{X-} / {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}

Barbara Lewis - 12th Place

Barbara Lewis called a bet from Hal Rotholz on fifth street and then got her remaining chips in on sixth.

Rotholz: {x-}{x-}/{6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

Lewis turned over an {a-} for aces up, but Rotholz had {7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades} to make a ten-high straight.

Kohler Over Bohn

Level 23 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

Ernest Bohn had three to a low and bet into a couple of opponents on fifth street.

Bohn: {x-}{x-}/{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Bill Kohler: {x-}{x-}/{7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Steve Jelinek: {x-}{x-}/{2-Clubs}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} (folded on sixth street)

Kohler was the one betting sixth, and only Bohn called. Kohler bet the river, as well, and Bohn called again but didn't have a low against {7-}{5-}{9-}, good for a boat.
