At 3 p.m. local time, cards will be in the air for Event #55: $1,500 Seven Card Stud of the 48th Annual World Series of Poker. It's the first of two seven-card stud exclusive events on the calendar; the flagship $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship will kick off on July 7.

Last year, none other than Shaun Deeb conquered a field of 331 players to capture his second WSOP gold bracelet. At a stacked final table with Adam Friedman, Max Pescatori, Eugene Katchalov, and John Monnette, the American juggernaut emerged victorious and added $111,101 to his lifetime winnings.

This is a three-day event and players will each receive 7,500 in chips to work with. Ten levels of 60 minutes have been scheduled for today, with 15-minute breaks after every two levels. Late registration ends at the end of Level 6, which will be around 10 p.m. No dinner break has been scheduled; chips will be bagged and tagged for the night around 2 a.m.
