Day 1 is Done

Level 10 : 1,000-2,000, 200 ante

Day 1 is in the books, with 68 players surviving through 10 hours of seven card stud. Bryan Slick has claimed the end-of-day chip lead with 92,400.

An extensive recap, all chip counts and the redraw for Day 2 will follow.

Leah: {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} / {Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{2-Hearts} / {3-Hearts}
Opponent: {J-Clubs}{A-Spades} / {A-Hearts}{5-Spades}{A-Clubs}{Q-Spades} / {3-Spades}

Mike Leah had a bad final two levels of the day and was down to just over 3,000 in chips. On third street, Leah and an opponent got it in after a series of raises.

Leah hit two pair on fifth street, but his opponent found a third ace to send Leah in a deep hole. The Canadian failed to fill up by the river and was eliminated in the last fifteen minutes of the day.

John Bunch Takes One Down with Aces Up

Level 10 : 1,000-2,000, 200 ante

Bunch: {X-}{X-}/{4-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{4-Clubs}/{X-}
Seat 2: {X-}{X-}/{Q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} - fold
Seat 4: {X-}{X-}/{10-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}/{X-}

It was fifth street and seat 2 checked his pair of fives. The next player checked and John Bunch bet. Both opponents called. On sixth street, it checked to Bunch again and he bet. The next player folded and seat 4 called.

They both checked seventh street and Bunch showed {A-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for aces up, good for the pot.

New Chip Leader Jonathan Ulrich Folds Out Aces

Level 10 : 1,000-2,000, 200 ante

Jonathan Ulrich has been chipping up rapidly in the late levels of the night and he just took down another pot to add to his chip lead.

Ulrich: {X-}{X-}/{K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Opponent: {X-}{X-}/{7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} - fold

We picked up the action fourth street and a double bet went in with Ulrich showing a pair of kings. On fifth street, Ulrich bet and his opponent called. Ulrich got another king on sixth street and he bet again. His opponent shook his head and frustratedly showed {A-Spades}{A-Hearts} in the hole before he folded.

Opponent: {A-Clubs}{7-Spades} / {A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{J-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} / {2-Diamonds}
