Vornicu Sent Packing

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante
Valentin Vornicu
Valentin Vornicu

Adam Levy had a bet of 2,000 in front of him in the big blind on a {6-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop, and he was considering the all-in shove of Valentin Vornicu, who was on his left and had about 15,000 in the middle. Levy splashed in some chips to call.

Levy: {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Vornicu: {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Vornicu had outs with his combo draw and overcard, but the {5-Hearts} turn and {3-Hearts} river were both blanks.

Metalidi Turns a Set

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

Marc-Andre Ladouceur joined the stacked table captained by Matt Berkey.

Ladouceur lasted the shortest time in the following hand, folding under the gun. His neighbor, Artem Metalidi raised to 800, earning calls from small blind Matt Berkey and a player in the big blind.

Metalidi checked back the {Q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop, leaving the betting initiative to Berkey, who led out for 1,700 on the {7-Diamonds} turn.

"How much? Seventeen?" Metalidi asked after the big blind had folded. Metalidi called.

The river {9-Hearts} went check-check, and Berkey tabled {K-Clubs}{10-Spades}. Metalidi leaned over to see his cards and double-checked them with the board, maybe trying to determine whether or not Berkey had a straight.

When Metalidi figured out that Berkey had only a pair of tens, he rolled over his {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} for a turned set.

Tsinis Puts Nasty Beat on Sindelar

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante
Dan Sindelar, pictured in a different event.
Dan Sindelar, pictured in a different event.

Dan Sindelar checked from under the gun on a {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop. Igor Yaroshevskyy bet 1,700, and Arkadiy Tsinis made it 3,700 on his left. Back to Sindelar, the former November Niner announced he was all in. It was 18,025. After Yaroshevskyy folded, Tsinis considered briefly and then called.

Tsinis: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Sindelar: {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

Sindelar was in complete command with trips, but that lasted all of about 10 seconds as the {q-Diamonds} rolled off the deck to give Tsinis a boat. The river was a {2-Hearts}, and Sindelar took his leave.

Manganaro Eliminated

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

Nick Manganaro shoved his last 3,200 in from the small blind over a button raise to 800. The opener called with {k-Spades}{j-Clubs} and trailed Manganaro, who had {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}. The {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop kept Manganaro ahead with queens, but a {9-Clubs} turn meant the Nebraska native was drawing dead and out the door.

Lee Pays Off Benger

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

Hon Cheong Lee bet 5,700 from under the gun on a completed board of {2-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{5-Spades}{j-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}. Griffin Benger popped in a big raise to 18,500, leaving himself just 5,000 back. Lee tanked for a couple of minutes and called, and Benger rolled over {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for a set.

Ho Folds To Engel's River Raise

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

Maria Ho and Ari Engel were on the river with the board reading {7-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}.

Ho led out 3,500 from the small blind, but Engel had the final word.

Engel placed in four times as much, bumping the showdown price to 14,000.

Ho gave it some thought but eventually ended up folding, leaving herself with just over a starting stack.

Engel, who had a rough start to the tournament, is now sitting on 45,000.
