Chen Fires a River Raise

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Facing a bet of 3,600 from the big blind on a completed board of {4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, James Chen put in a raise to 10,500 from the button. His opponent tanked for a minute or so and let it go, and Chen's working his way up from the starting stack early on.

Metaal Joins the Superstar Table

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

One table stands out in the Amazon Tan, boasting several well known faces from the poker globe.

Dani Stern arrived for an early 11 a.m. start just like he did for yesterday's Day 1 of the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship. Two seats to Stern's right, there's Shannon Shorr. And two seats to Shorr's left one finds Ari Engel.

Add one more familiar name to the table as well, as Govert Metaal just arrived with his tournament receipt, taking a hot seat between Shorr and Stern.

Metaal is fresh off a sixth-place finish in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em Bounty tournament for $48,386. The Dutch poker aficionado will face even tougher field in this tournament, but Metaal has been a regular in the €10,000 high rollers in Europe and has a ton of experience battling in stacked fields.

Melissa Gillett was in the cutoff, facing an opponent sitting in the hijack.

Both players checked the turn with the board showing {8-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}, then the {J-Hearts} fell on the river. The player in the hijack led out 1,100 this time and Gillett called, but mucked after seeing her opponent's {K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} for top two pair.
