Biography

Andy Black is an Irish poker player with more than $5 million in live poker earnings.

Black was a figure of the Poker Boom of the mid-2000s and notably finished fifth in the 2005 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event for a career-best $1.8 million, colliding with now-household names like Mike Matusow and eventual champion Joe Hachem along the way.

Two years later, Black finished third in the Aussie Millions A$10,000 Main Event, made famous by Gus Hansen's seminal poker book Every Hand Revealed, for $556,695.

Black had another televised career highlight in 2008 when he took down the Party Poker Premier League London $60,000 event for $250,000.

The Irishman has also had success on the European Poker Tour (EPT), including finishing seventh in the 2007 EPT Monte Carlo Grand Final for $318,640.

Nowadays, Black mainly plays local tournaments and finished fifth in the 2023 Irish Poker Open Main Event for $104,338.
