Kelsall Gets a Big Pot in 5 Card Draw

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 1,300 ante

No-Limit 5 Card Draw

From under the gun, Jens Lakemeier raised to 12,000, and he was called by Jerry Wong in the small blind and Andrew Kelsall in the big blind.

Wong drew one, Kelsall took three, and Lakemeier took two.

Wong checked. Kelsall thought for a moment, cut out a stack of chips, then decided to check, as well. Lakemeier decided to bet, putting out 34,000. Wong called, and Kelsall thought for a while. He made a face, then put in the chips to call, as well.

Lakemeier mucked instantly, and when Kelsall showed {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, Wong mucked, as well, allowing Kelsall to take down the big pot with two pair.

David “OBD” Baker

No-Limit 5 Card Draw

It folded to David "ODB" Baker, on the button, who moved all in for 48,400. Ismael Bojang folded in the small blind, and Jerry Wong called in the big blind.

Wong drew three and Baker two.

Wong showed {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}, and Baker showed {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. Wong drew {10-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}.

"Naked jacks, Dave," said Wong.

"First one's a four-across diamond, but I already have one of those," said Baker, referring to his {9-Diamonds}. "The second's a no-spotter spade."

He slammed the {3-Spades} face up on the table, confirming what he already knew. For good measure, he turned over the {10-Diamonds} and was eliminated in 10th place for $9,336.

Mike Matusow Eliminated in 11th Place ($7,188)

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 1,000 ante
Mike Matusow
Mike Matusow

No-Limit Hold'em

"I should've three-bet him preflop." That's what Mike Matusow said as he headed for the rail.

On a {10-Spades}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop, Matusow checked from the small blind over to Andrew Kelsall in the cutoff. Kelsall bet, and Matusow quickly moved all in. Kelsall called.

Matusow: {4-Spades}{6-Spades}
Kelsall: {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

The board completed with the {3-Hearts} on the turn and the {8-Diamonds} on the river, and that was it for Matusow, who needed to hit his flush or a four to survive.

"The sick part is I was check-raising on any flop," Matusow said as he continued out of the tournament area.

"Good run, Mike," David "OBD" Baker said. "Not much you can do there."

Jens Lakemeier Tangles With Ismael Bojang

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 1,000 ante

Big O

Ismael Bojang raised to 8,000, and Jens Lakemeier called in the small blind.

The pair checked the {3-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop, and the {k-Spades} came on the turn. Lakemeier bet 14,000, and Bojang called. The river was the {3-Clubs}, and Lakemeier bet 35,000. Bojang called.

Lakemeier showed {k-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{q-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts} for a full house and took down the pot.

"I wish I got dealt deuce-three-four double-suited king-queen," bemoaned Mike Matusow.

Daniel Negreanu

Pot-Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw

Daniel Negreanu picked the game and seemed to be pretty excited about choosing Pot-Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw.

On the first hand, he opened from under the gun with a raise to 10,500. Ryan Hughes was the only caller from the small blind. Hughes took two while Negreanu took one. Hughes then bet 20,000, and Negreanu moved all in for not much more. Hughes called.

Both players took one apiece on the second draw, then one more on the third draw.

Hughes showed {5-}{4-}{3-}{2-}.

"Give him a six," Negreanu requested. "Oh wait, I threw away three sixes."

Negreanu was holding {8-}{6-}{4-}{3-}. Hughes peeled first and revealed a {7-} making him the nuts and giving him an unbeatable hand. Negreanu showed his {4-}, and he was eliminated in 12th place, collecting $7,188 for his finish.
