Who's your Papa-zian

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Alexandru Papazian
Alexandru Papazian

In back-to-back hands, Alexandru Papazian has launched himself toward the top of the leaderboard.

In the first hand, Alexandru Papazian limped in from early position. Jakub Wojtas moved all in for 87,000 in late position and Kevin Song called on the button. Papazian then moved all in and, after calling a clock on Song, he called as well.

Papazian: {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}
Song: {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Wojtas: {a-}{q-}

The board ran out {k-Spades}{5-Clubs}{k-Hearts} {8-Clubs} {k-Clubs} and the river produced a flush for Song who celebrated only to realise he was still beat by Papazian's full house. Papazian had both players covered and was up to just over 1,500,000 in chips.

In the following hand, a player under the gun moved all in for 64,000. Papazian called in early position and all other players folded.

Papazian: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Under the gun: {k-Spades}{9-Clubs}

The board ran out good for Papazian with an ace-high flop and he added a third elimination in two hands to chip up to just over 1,600,000.

Romanello Gets Aces Cracked by Price

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Roberto Romanello has experienced his share of painful pots throughout his WSOP career. Every professional with a resume like his has.

It doesn't make it any easier when it happens. Romanello recently had pocket aces against Toby Price, at risk holding pocket nines.

A nine on the board delivered a crushing blow to Romanello as a 1,100,000 pot was shifted towards Price, leaving Romanello with just 280,000.

Romanello has recovered a bit, currently sitting on 420,000.

Bonyadi Takes it Without Showing a Thing

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Farzad Bonyadi has been on a tear as of late. In the following hand, a player in the cutoff raised to 37,000. The button then three-bet to 120,000. Bonyadi was in the big blind and announced all in for 837,000. The cutoff and button both folded, asking to see, but Bonyadi kept his headphones in and carried on raking in the pot.

Bonyadi Cracks Jacks

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Farzad Bonyadi was under the gun and raised to 36,000. Another player in early position moved all in for 132,000. Bonyadi called.

Bonyadi: {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
All-in player: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}

The board ran out great for Bonyadi as he flopped trips and never looked back. The {10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Spades}{8-Clubs} eliminated his opponent and added to his totals.

Muhire Turns the Nuts, Gets Paid by Yun

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Sam Yun opened to 40,000 from late position and Bernard Muhire called in the cutoff. Yun checked in the dark before the {2-Spades}{6-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop fanned out and Muhire checked behind.

The turn was the {j-Spades} and Yun shoved. Muhire double-checked his cards before calling, putting himself at risk.

Muhire: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}
Yun: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}

Muhire turned the nuts and left Yun drawing dead. The meaningless {2-Diamonds} completed the board on the river and Muhire doubled up.

Table Full of Monsters Still Scary; New Leader

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Though Michael Tureniec appears to be the new leader on the other side of the room, Table 637 still has a large amount of chips scattered amongst some notable players.

Charalampos Lappas and start-of-day chip leader Seville Hale seem to be jockeying for the table chip lead but Danny Wong and Jason Wheeler are not far behind.

Schultz Takes From Im

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

With about 120,000 in the pot and the board reading {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, Matthew Schultz led out for 75,000. Vivian Im called in the cutoff.

The turn was the {9-Clubs} and both players checked. The river was the {k-Hearts} and Schultz moved all in. Im thought for about a minute and then folded her hand while staring a hold through Schultz who contently raked in the pot.
