Pot-Limit Omaha

Five players contested a pot on Table 716. Only Mike Leah folded his hand preflop, standing up to do some stretching.

Small blind Mike Sexton didn't wait for anything and led out for 7,000 on the {2-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop. Three fast folds followed, but the action stopped at button Jens Lakemeier for a while. Lakemeier, who won a bracelet earlier today, eventually called.

Sexton checked on the {5-Diamonds} turn, leaving the aggression to Lakemeier. The German online mixed-games wizard didn't miss out on a betting opportunity, firing 13,000. Sexton laid his hand down.

His opponent in the hand was Shaun Deeb, in middle position, who spent two minutes thinking before calling it off.

Alaei showed {7-Clubs}{3-Hearts} for two pair, and Deeb mucked his hand while shaking his head.

Mike Matusow

No-Limit Hold'em

On a {J-Hearts}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop, Mike Matusow (with 5,000 committed post-flop) was facing a raise to 13,000 from Ivo Donev (under the gun) and a call from Daniel Negreanu (button). Matusow called after a little while to see the {2-Spades} turn, which was checked around. The river was the {K-Diamonds} and action checked to Negreanu, who bet 32,000. Matusow called after about 90 seconds, and Donev folded.

"Do you have quads? asked Matusow.

Negreanu shook his head no.

Matusow tabled {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} for fours full of decues, Negreanu mucked, and Matusow won the pot.

Mercier Flops the Nuts, Gets Tons of Value

Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier

Pot-Limit Omaha

Jared Bleznick raised to 3,000 from the hijack. Jason Mercier called from the cutoff, and big blind Brett Richey joined the action, as well.

The flop {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} was checked to Mercier, who bet 5,500. Richey folded, and Bleznick called.

Mercier bet another 16,800 on the {3-Clubs} turn, and Bleznick check-called again.

Bleznick checked in the dark, leaving the action to Mercier before the {A-Clubs} landed on the river. Mercier thought for a bit, and then reached to his stack for a final barrel. He made it 48,000. Bleznick didn't snap-call, but it didn't take him long to throw in the required chips.

Mercier turned up his {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for the flopped nut flush, which remained the nuts all the way through.

Bleznick showed his {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{X-}{X-} for a flopped flush and an open-ended straight flush draw, but his hand had been trailing the whole time.

Shak Runs into Bonomo's Straight... Twice

Level 6 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

Dan Shak went into two battles against Justin Bonomo, and he ended up losing them both.

The first hand saw Bonomo open from the cutoff, and Shak called from the small blind. They checked the {8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{9-Clubs} flop, and Bonomo bet on the {10-Diamonds} turn, earning a check-call from Shak. The river was the {4-Hearts}, and Shak check-called, only to see the {Q-Spades}{9-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} in Bonomo's hand.

Bonomo raised the following hand, as well, and Shak opted to three-bet from the button. Bonomo called, then called Shak's continuation bet on the {3-Spades}{2-Spades}{A-Clubs}. The {10-Diamonds} turn was checked through, and Bonomo led out on the {4-Spades} river. Shak threw in the calling chip.

"I have another straight," Bonomo said, revealing his {5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for a six-high straight and the nut low. Shak sighed while Mike Matusow, also seated at that table, presented, "Justin Bonomo, ladies and gentleman," introducing Bonomo to the world.

Meanwhile, Shak's two losses against Bonomo's straights saw him drop down to his last 14,300.

ElkY Counterfeits Tomer

Level 6 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

Ray Dehkharghani raised to 3,000 from under the gun, Bertrand Grospellier called from the cutoff, and Daniel Tomer called on the button. Dehkharghani bet 6,500 on the {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop, Grospellier called, and Tomer called as well.

The turn brought the {10-Clubs} and Dehkharghani checked. Grospellier took the lead by betting 14,000, Tomer called, and Dehkharghani folded. Both players quickly checked the {K-Hearts} on the river.

Grospellier showed {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} and Tomer angrily showed {A-Spades}{7-Spades}, which got counterfeited on the river.
