Event #63: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em

Day 2 Completed

Patrick Truong Leads Final 20 Chasing $262,501

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Patrick Truong - Chipleader
Patrick Truong - Chipleader

Patrick Truong ended the day as chipleader on 1,130,000 while Michael Amato is second with 1,111,000 and Ryan Hughes finished in third bagging up 1,040,000.

The three Americans are the only players from the surviving 20 to return with over a million chips.

Cards were in the air at Noon on Tuesday, 4th July as 186 players from an original field of 1,750 resumed battle on Day 2 with Michael Telker leading the way.

All the players had returned in the money and there was a steady flow of eliminations. By the dinner break, 6 levels into the day, 54 players remained, and two-time WSOP bracelet winner Ryan Hughes has amassed a huge lead with 780,000 which was astonishingly over twice that of the player in second place at the time.

Some of the pre-dinner break casualties includedJames Akenhead, Parker “tonkaaa” Talbot, Ismael Bojang, Joe McKeehen, Joe Kuether, Dan Shak, Dong Guo, Will Givens and Marc Convey.

Soon after the hour-long break, Telker who seemed to be in control of his game all day steadily picking up chips, saw it go disastrously wrong. He shoved with top pair on the flop in a three-bet pot and ran into a set. Telker hung on for a while but the damage was done and he had little leverage left and was eliminated early in the next level.

Hughes managed to hold on to his chips but late surges saw Truong top the charts with Michael Amato close behind.

Other notables who bagged up include John Monnette (426,000), Andy Frankenberger (240,000) and Eddy Sabat (204,000).

Play resumes at 12 p.m. again and they will play down to a winner who will claim a WSOP gold bracelet and first-place money of $262,501.
