Vipin Davis Misses Straight To Exit

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Three players made it to the turn of a board reading {2-Spades}{4-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Marcos Fernandez, who started the day second in chips, led out from the big blind for 11,000.

Henry Tran was the next player to act and he gave it some thought before folding. Vipin Davis then moved all in from the cutoff and after having got a count of 27,000, Fernandez called.

Marcos Fernandez: {j-Hearts}{8-Spades} — top pair
Vipin Davis: {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts} — straight draw

The river card {7-Diamonds} wasn’t what Davis was hoping for, and he was next to be eliminated.

Pasker on the Right Side of a Flip

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Austin Pasker was in late position and moved all in for his last 19,200. Thomas Fuller was in the cutoff and called, but not before the small blind tank-folded, later disclosing that he folded pocket eights.

Pasker was at risk in a coin flip scenario, tabling {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} against Fuller's {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}.

The flop came {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and Pasker took the lead with a pair of aces. The turn was the {5-Clubs} to give Fuller a flush draw, but the river was the {4-Diamonds} and Pasker held on.

A Scheer Badly-Timed Bluff

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Nathan Hall raised to 3,200 from the hijack and Guilharme Scheer defended his big blind.

The flop came {j-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades} and Scheer checked. Hall asked how much he had behind, and Scheer confirmed it was about 37,000. Hall bet 4,200 and Scheer moved all in. Hall called.

Scheer sheepishly tabled {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for nine-high, and Hall showed {q-Spades}{9-Spades} for queen-high and a flush draw.

The turn was the {5-Hearts} and the river was the {5-Spades}, sending Scheer to the rail to collect his payout.

Marc Convey opened the action and Vipin Davis called. Pedro Cabeca from Portugal moved all in from the big blind for just over 30,000 and after Convey folded Davis called.

Pedro Cabeca: {a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Vipin Davis: {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

The board ran out {7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. Cabeca doubled up and Henry Tran wished him, “Happy Fourth of July.”

“Merry Christmas.” a smiling Cabeca replied.

Jackie Glazier had gotten somewhat short-stacked before moving all in for her last 5,000. Peter Akery three-bet to 12,000 to isolate and it was heads-up, as recounted by Marc Convey at the table.

Peter Akery: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Jackie Glazier: {k-Spades}{7-Spades}

Akery’s offsuit Big Slick stayed ahead of Glazier’s hand through the community cards to eliminate the Australian bracelet holder just before the first break of the day.

Randy Lowery Turns Telker Dead

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

With about 12,000 in the middle on a board reading {k-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, the start-of-day chip leader Michael Telker led out for 7,800 from the big blind. Vanessa Kade folded from early position, and Randy Lowery moved all in for his remaining 30,000. Telker called.

Lowery was the player at risk with {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}, up against Telker's {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. The turn was the {j-Clubs} and Lowery wrapped up the pot before the dealer whipped over the {3-Spades} on the river.

Annette Mucci Defies the Odds to Double Up

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Annette Mucci shoved from early position for 20,000 and got a call from Kuixian Zhu in the small blind.

Annette Mucci: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Kuixian Zhu: {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

The board ran out {6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. There was an ace right on the flop to shoot Mucci into the lead, and the hand held to yield an eventual double-up to crack the kings of Zhu.

“What are the odds of that?” a delighted Mucci wanted to know.

“About twenty-five percent.” someone said.

“More than that,“ another player said. “Kings are an aces magnet.”
