Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Charlie Godwin
Charlie Godwin

Charlie Godwin had all her chips in with {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts} in middle position, and Kristen Deardorff had her at risk under the gun with {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}.

The {5-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop was safe for Godwin, but Deardorff hit a pair on the turn and held up to eliminate Godwin.

Alexis Sterner Doubles Through Kristen Deardorff

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Three players put in 1,500 preflop, and the flop came {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{4-Clubs}. Kristen Deardorff checked in the big blind, Alexis Sterner bet 2,800 under the gun, and the middle-position player folded. Deardorff called, and the turn was the {3-Spades}. Deardorff checked, Sterner bet 5,500, and after a long pause, Deardorff raised to 16,000. Sterner committed her remaininig 16,100, and they showed down.

Sterner: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Deardorff: {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

Sterner's kings were ahead, and they held up on the {5-Diamonds} river. She doubled up, and Deardorff took a small hit to her big stack.

Final Break of the Night

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

The remaining ladies are heading on their last 20-minute break of the day. The 25-denomination chips are being raced off. They will return to play two more levels before bagging for the night.

Simon Després In and Out

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Simon Després was the only male to enter the tournament today, paying $10,000 for that privilege. He did register late (with about 10 big blinds left) but wasn't really welcomed by the participants already in the field.

When he busted just after the dinner break, the loud cheers could be heard from most of the other participants in the field. Unfortunately, we have no details about his bust out hand.

Natalie Saether Knocks One Out

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

The player in the under-the-gun position raised to 3,500. A player in middle position shoved all in. Annette Obrestad, in the hijack, took some time to think and then reluctantly folded. Natalie Saether, in the cutoff, also took some time to consider her options, and in the end, she decided to shove all in, too. The player in the under-the-gun position folded.

Middle position: {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}
Natalie Saether: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}

The board ran out {8-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{A-Clubs} to give Saether trip aces with a king kicker and the pot.

Amanda Sizemore Gives Up on the River

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Parm Mehmi raised to 2,000 under the gun and was called by the player in the next position and Amanda Sizemore, on the button.

The flop came {10-Spades}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts}, and all three players checked. On the {4-Clubs} turn, it checked to Sizemore on the button, and she bet 4,000. Mehmi called, and the remaining player folded. It was heads-up to the {3-Clubs} river. Mehmi checked, and Sizemore checked back.

Mehmi tabled {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for a pair of fours and ace-jack high. Sizemore showed {A-Spades}{7-Clubs} for a worse ace-high and told Mehmi, "You were going to look me up on the river anyway."

Mehmi took the pot, though Sizemore is still at the top of the counts after that setback.
