Welcome to Day 1 of Event #70: $10,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold'em Championship

Today, Event #70: $10,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold'em Championship is set to begin at 11 a.m. Last year there were 819 entries in total and Courtney Kennedy, a poker dealer from Detroit, took home the desirable gold WSOP bracelet and the first-place prize of $149,108. For Kennedy, it was her first ever WSOP cash ever and the biggest win of her career.

Amanda Baker finished in second place and she might be back to better her result this year. Michelle Deng came third and has been playing this summer. She has two cashes already in the 48th edition of this World Series of Poker. Natalia Breviglieri finished the tournament in fourth place in 2016 and she'll be here this year to take a shot at winning the bracelet and bettering her biggest career win ever. Amanda Musumeci is another name to keep an eye on, she finished in fifth place and might be back to chase victory in this event.

This will be a three-day event and female players who enter the event will receive a discount of $9,000 and only pay $1,000 to enter. Everyone will get 5,000 in tournament chips. Levels will be 60 minutes long with 20-minute breaks every two levels. There will be a 90-minute dinner break after Level 6 which should be around 5:40 p.m. Ten levels of play are scheduled for today with registration open until the start of Level 7 (approximately 7:10 p.m).
