Drink-Less Roger Teska Can't Call

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

If you were a poker fan back in early 2014, the name Roger Teska may ring a bell. Teska made a deep run in the 2014 PCA Main Event all while being intoxicated on Bloody Marys and serving multiple penalties for his antics at and around the table, mostly directed to the TV crew.

Well, Teska has chipped up nicely since the start of day and an alcoholic beverage has yet to be seen sitting in front of him, though the day is quite early.

Teska did take a hit in a recent pot where, on the river of a {5-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{a-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts} board with about 23,000 already in the middle, Teska faced a bet of 13,000 and tossed his cards to the muck.

A player in middle position raised before the flop and Liv Boeree called from the small blind.

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{7-Spades} and Boeree checked. Her opponent bet 1,100 and Boeree called.

The turn brought the {9-Hearts} and Boeree checked again. Her opponent bet again, 2,200 this time, and Boeree folded.

Quads Again

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

In a hand from the stream, Jason Xu opened for 800 with {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} and got three-bet to 2,200 by [Removed:139], who had {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} a couple of seats over. Xu called and {q-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{q-Spades} flopped. Xu check-called 2,000. On the {6-Hearts} turn, Xu led out 3,600 and Platt called. The river was a {4-Diamonds} and Xu continued his aggression with a bigger bet of 11,600.

"Why did I call the turn to fold now?" Platt wondered aloud with a smile.

The San Antonio sports reporter, who made a deep run in the 2015 Main Event, mucked his hand. Xu didn't show the quads.

With about 5,000 chips already in the pot on a completed board of {K-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, the player in the small blind bet 2,725 and Chris Moneymaker called from middle position. The small blind tabled {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, having flopped a set and filled up on the river.

"So glad I checked the turn," said Moneymaker as he tossed his cards in the muck.
