Blumenfield Chipping Up

Level 2 : 150/300, 0 ante
Neil Blumenfield
Neil Blumenfield

2015 November Niner Neil Blumenfield, donning his trademark hat again today, was in a hand against Miltiades Tzimourtas with the board reading {6-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}. There was over 5,000 in the pot and Tzimourtas checked to Blumenfield, who bet 3,200.

Tzimourtas check-called the turn but check-folded on the {2-Diamonds} river to a 7,600 bet.

Young and Salty

Level 2 : 150/300, 0 ante

Louis Salter is the younger brother of the more famous, for now, English poker pro Jack Salter. He certainly seems to share Jack’s taste for fearless and aggressive poker.

There was an open and a call before the player on the button decided to attempt a squeeze play by raising it up to 3,000. The small blind folded but Salter in the big blind raised to 8,000.

One by one the other players pushed in their cards with the player on the button muttering, “Nice hand.”

Albert Daher Doing More Damage

Level 2 : 150/300, 0 ante
Albert Daher, pictured in a different event.

Early in Level 1, Alfie Adam laid down his pocket aces to Albert Daher on the turn when the action got a bit heavy for a one-pair hand. It was a policy he would reverse in Level 2 with disastrous results.

Adam held aces again in a pot against Daher with three spades on the flop and a lot of heavy betting. The chips went in the middle with Adam calling for his tournament life on a non-spade turn card with Daher holding {a-Spades}{j-}.

A spade on the river gave Daher the winning flush to felt Adam and another pile of chips was pushed to Daher.

Pauli's Check-Raise Paid

Level 2 : 150/300, 0 ante

With about 5,000 in the pot, a player in the cutoff had 3,950 in front of him and was facing a check-raise to 12,000 from big blind Sebastian Pauli. The board read {2-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}, and the player in the cutoff decided to call. Pauli revealed {j-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} for a flush, and his opponent had a weaker flush with {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.

Nasty Outburst Causes Awkward Silence in Brasilia

Level 2 : 150/300, 0 ante
Tony Bracy (Seat 5) & Lazaro Hernandez (Seat 7)
Tony Bracy (Seat 5) & Lazaro Hernandez (Seat 7)

The usual sounds of chip shuffling and conversation came to an abrupt halt moments ago in the Brasilia room.

A verbal spat between Tony Bracy and Lazaro Hernandez erupted into a screaming match that took a turn for the worst when racial slurs were hurled towards Bracy.

According to the table, Hernandez was on the button during a four-way hand in progress and texting on his phone. It had happened several times and Bracy asked the dealer to take control of the table. That sparked Hernandez to leap out of his chair and proceed to berate Bracy.

Bracy wasn't exactly innocent in the fight, defending himself with some insults of his own directed towards Hernandez, but not nearly as harsh.

The floor and security immediately intervened and both players were escorted from the table.

Bracy received a one-round penalty and Hernandez has been issued a three-round penalty. Hernandez has also been given a disqualification notice if he makes any more comments at the table.

We originally had incorrectly identified the person involved in this hand as being John Esposito. We sincerely apologize for this mistake and want to emphasize that bracelet winner Esposito was in no way involved in the above-described scene.
