Soika Makes a Big Call

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

From middle position, Jingwei Zhang opened to 110,000. Big blind Ihar Soika called.

The flop was {4-Hearts}{4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, and Soika checked. Zhang bet 80,000, and Soika check-raised to 230,000. Zhang called in position.

The {K-Hearts} hit the turn, and Soika bet another 230,000. As casual as could be, Zhang raised to 650,000, seemingly grabbing the chips blindly to raise. He was very much aware of what he had raised, though; he clarified it was 650,000 as soon as Soika raised an eyebrow.

Soika called and checked on the {6-Clubs} river. Zhang, again casually, grabbed 600,000 and put them into the middle in one sweeping motion. Soika tanked for about four minutes before he called.

Zhang showed {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a bluff gone wrong, and Soika took down the pot, tabling {J-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

"Wow!" Neil Patel said. "Oh my lord!"

Pateychuk Hits the Rail, Eliminated by Vas Nunes

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Paul Vas Nunes
Paul Vas Nunes

Andrey Pateychuk moved all in for 680,000 on the button. Next to act was Paul Vas Nunes, and he called. The big blind folded, bringing the two players to a showdown.

Pateychuk: {A-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
Vas Nunes: {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}

The board rolled out {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}, and that was good for Vas Nunes. He remained in the lead the whole way, giving him the pot. Pateychuk was eliminated from the tournament, making him the second Russian eliminated in the span of two hands at the same table.

Gazaev Loses a Flip, Eliminated

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Robin Hegele raised to 125,000 from late position, and Ruslan Gazaev three-bet to 350,000 from one seat over in the hijack. Hegele called and checked the {K-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop. Gazaev bet 350,000 and faced a check-raise to 800,000 by Hegele before moving all in for around 2.5 million. Hegele called, and the cards were turned over.

Ruslan Gazaev: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Robin Hegele: {6-Hearts}{6-Spades}

Gazaev needed running cards to avoid elimination and stood up from his chair, letting out some words in Russian that are better left untranslated. After the {4-Spades} turn, it was all over, making the {Q-Clubs} river a formality.

Wakeman Eliminated by Liu

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Yin Liu raised to 115,000 on the button, and Matthew Wakeman moved all in from the big blind. Liu pointed at the dealer to count the stack, and Wakeman instantly replied "It is 890,000." Liu counted his own stack, which was around 1.1 million, and took another minute before calling.

Matthew Wakeman: {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Yin Liu: {A-Hearts}{7-Spades}

Both players hit a pair on the {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop, and Liu stayed in the lead. The {9-Spades} turn changed nothing, either, and Wakeman was eliminated after the {A-Clubs} river.

Monster Raising War Extends into Break

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

A player in early position opened to 125,000, sparking a raising war between Reed Hensel and Richard Gryko that left them as the only players in the whole room, as the rest of the players went off to break.

When action folded around to Hensel, he three-bet to 250,000. Sitting to Hensel's immediate left, Gryko cut out a re-raise and bumped it up again, making it 750,000 to go. The early-position player got out of the way, and Hensel five-bet jammed all in.

Gryko went into the tank, eventually asking for a count. As soon as the dealer confirmed a price of 2,940,000, Gryko folded.

Hesp Can't Hold On with Kings

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Wen Zhou and John Hesp got all of the chips into the middle preflop with Hesp way out in front. Hesp tabled {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}, and Zhou had {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}.

The action was stopped until the camera crews were set up, and then the cards were dealt.

The flop came {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, and Zhou hit an ace right on the flop. Hesp needed to catch a king or running cards, but the {j-Spades} on the turn and the {7-Hearts} on the river weren't enough to get the job done. Zhou doubled up, and Hesp was left with around 1,000,000 chips.
