Nemanja Knezevic sits behind a chip stack totalling 70,000 after recently eliminating a player.
A fellow table mate informed us that Knezevic knocked out a player in a set-over-set situation to see him double his starting stack early in the day's proceedings.
A player limps in from middle position and Leigh Warne calls in the small blind. Terence Clee checks his option in the big blind.
The flop was and Warne puts out a bet of 200. Clee raises to 400. The limper folds but Warne calls.
The turn was the and Warne checked it again. Clee made it 1,000 this time and Warne called once more.
On the river, Warne checked a third time. Clee checked it back and Warne showed his for a missed straight draw. Clee showed his and that would earn him the pot with a pair of jacks.
Three players checked on the turn on the board before the dropped on the river.
The player in the hijack checked. Morten Mortensen fired 2,500 from the cutoff. The player on the button mucked shortly after as did the player in the hijack.
Mortensen won a small pot as he makes his way back towards the starting stack.
The board showed and the player in the big blind checked. [Removed:415] followed from the hijack before the player on the button bet 600. The big blind mucked. Doria called.
The completed the board and Doria checked. His opponent bet 1,200. Doria snap-called.
Doria then watched as his opponent tabled for a missed flush and straight. Doria then flipped over for a set and took down the pot.
Zac Lowrie was in the cutoff and he opened with a raise to 250. Action folded to the small blind where Eric Wu three-bet, making it 1,050. The big blind folded but Lowrie called to see a flop.
The flop was and Wu checked. Lowrie put out a bet of 1,200 and Wu called.
Both players checked when the came and the dropped on the river. There, Wu checked for a third time. Lowrie put out a bet of 2,800. Wu tanked for a bit, but eventually decided to call. Lowrie turned up his for just queen-high and Wu had snapped of the bluff holding for ace-high, and that would earn him the pot.
A player in middle position opened with a raise to 300 and Johnathan Hargrave called on the button. The big blind called as well and it was three-way to a flop.
The flop was and the big blind checked. The player in middle position made it 525. Hargrave called while the big blind folded.
Both players checked on the turn and the came on the river. There, the middle position player bet again, making it 1,025. Hargrave didn't waste too long to call. The middle position player showed down though for kings and tens and that would earn him the pot as Hargrave tapped the table and mucked.
It's not a great start for Hargrave, who finished 5th in the $500 Opening Event here at The Star Sydney for $29,487, but he's still got plenty of chips to work with here on Day 1D.
