And then there were six. Huss Hassan moved all-in from the button and took down the blinds and antes, but the second time he tried this from the cutoff Steven Zhou made a quick call.

The rest of the table got out of the way and the two tabled their hole cards.

Huss Hassan: {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Steven Zhou: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

Hassan was in a great deal of trouble, with Zhou waking up with a premium pocket pair behind him and would need to see something special on the runout to keep his final table hopes alive.

Unfortunately, the poker gods were not in a forgiving mood and the board ran out {2-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, with Zhou spiking top set to bring Hassan's Main Event to an end.

Hassan headed for the cage to collect the AU$64,765 on offer for seventh place, while Zhou stacked up to

Zwaine Knows He Wins

Level 29 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante

John Zwaine raised to 295,000 from under the gun. The action folded around to Steven Zhou in the big blind who called.

Both players checked the {8-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} flop before the {9-Diamonds} dropped on the turn.

Zhou bet 120,000. Zwaine instantly raised to 525,000. Zhoe snap-called.

Both player then checked after the {7-Spades} completed the board.

"You win," announced Zhou, before tabling {q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

"Of course I win," replied Zwaine, as he tabled {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} for a set of aces and the winning hand.

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

A ballsy bluff by Huss Hassan backfired, with Steven Zhou picking him off on the river.

It was Hassan the man raising pre-flop, making it 225,000 from the button with both Zhou (small blind) and John Zwaine (big blind) making the call to take the action three-way to a monochrome flop of {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{8-Clubs}.

After both blinds checked, Hassan led for 275,000 with Zhou the only caller. The {j-Spades} turn saw both players check, with the {k-Clubs} river bringing in four to a flush.

Zhou checked it over to Hassan for a third time and he reached for a big stack of the dark blue 100k chips for a river bomb of 1,050,000.

Zhou did not take long to make the call and Hassan brassily flipped over {6-Spades}{4-Spades} for six-high. Zhou scooped the pot with {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}.

A couple of hands later, Lior Segre and Chao Duan got into it in a button versus blinds confrontation that left Segre a little short. It was Segre who was the initial raiser, making it 255,000 to go on the button, with Duan re-raising to 650,000 from the small blind.

The rest of the table got out of the way and after a few seconds thinking it over, Segre made the call to take play heads-up to a flop of {3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, which Duan led for 350,000.

Segre called to bring in the {9-Hearts} turn but that was as far as the hand went. After close to 2 minutes in the think tank Duan pulled the trigger and moved all-in, with Segre making a quick fold.

Hassan Loses Back-To-Back Hands

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Huss Hassan
Huss Hassan

Huss Hassan raised to 250,000 from the cutoff and was called by Steven Zhou on the button as well as Duy Vu in the big blind.

The flop came {10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Vu checked. Hassan continued for 450,000. Zhou folded. Vu called shortly after.

Both players checked the {k-Spades} on the turn before the {5-Hearts} completed the board. Vu checked. Hassan fired 675,000.

"Aces, Huss?" questioned Vu, before slamming down his chips and making the call.

Hassan flipped over {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for nine-high. Vu tabled {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for two pair and the winning hand.

In the following hand, Hassan raised to 225,000 from the hijack. Zhou called from the cutoff. John Zwaine called from the button and Vu called from the small blind.

The flop came {10-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} and Vu checked. Hassan continued for 350,000. Only Zwaine called.

The turn fell the {2-Clubs} and Hassan checked. Zwaine announced 'one million' before sliding out the bet.

Hassan mucked moments later and relinquished the pot.

Chiu Rivers Duan, Duan Shoves on Zwaine

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

A battle of the blinds between Chao Duan and Edwin Chiu saw the latter spike the river to win a pot of 1.9 million. After Duan limped the small blind, Chiu raised to 200,000 in the big blind, with Duan calling to bring in a flop of {5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}, where the action went check, bet 200,000, call.

The {6-Diamonds} saw Duan check once more and Chiu fire a second barrel, this one a slightly larger 550,000, which Duan again called to bring the duo to the {9-Diamonds} river. Both players checked, with Duan rolling over {k-Clubs}{6-Clubs} but mucking when Chiu turned over his {j-Diamonds}{9-Spades} with a "Sorry, man."

The following hand saw Steven Zhou limp from under-the-gun, with John Zwaine making it 250,000 to go from one seat over. Duan moved all-in from the button for around 2.35 million and that was enough to take down the hand.

Duy Vu earns a double up
Duy Vu earns a double up

Chao Duan raised to 200,000 from middle position. Steven Zhou called from the button followed by Duy Vu in the big blind.

The flop came {4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Vu checked. Duan continued for 250,000. Zhou snap-called. Vu then moved all in for 1,915,000. Duan folded.

"Fold!" said Vu to Zhou, who was deliberating over his decision. "You don't have to play this one," he added.

"I can't fold this hand," replied Zhou, who took a minute, before making the call with more behind.

Vu: {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Zhou: {j-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Vu had flopped trip fours and led against Zhou's flush draw.

The board ran out the {8-Clubs} and {9-Clubs}, changing nothing, resulting in Vu doubling up.

Zwaine Still Climbing, Duan Pushes Off Vu

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

John Zwaine is in the hot seat presently making another big hand, this time against Duy Vu.

It was a limped pot, with Zwaine completing the small blind and Vu checking his option in the big blind to bring in a flop of {a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} with the action going check, check.

The {7-Clubs} turn also saw no betting, with Zwaine leading out for 225,000 on the {a-Clubs} river. Vu made a quick call but could not beat Zwaine's {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} turned straight which was good for another 305,000 in chips.

The hand after saw Huss Hassan take down a multi-way limped pot in position on the flop, and the hand after that saw Chao Duan push Duy Vu of a decent-sized pot.

It was Steven Zhou who was the instigator in this case, making it 160,000 to go from the hijack and picking up a caller in Vu (button) before Duan re-raised to 475,000 from the big blind. Zhou asked Duan how much more his was playing - ~2-million - before sliding his cards into the muck.

However, Vu decided to give Duan a spin and made the call to bring the two to a flop of {j-Hearts}{6-Spades}{k-Clubs}, which Duan led for 300,000. Vu called and the dealer burned and turned the {5-Diamonds}, which was as far as the hand went.

While he took a good two-minutes about it, Duan eventually decided the right amount to double-barrel was a hefty 900,000 and Vu's cards instantly hit the muck.
