Khoueis Rails Arrilucea

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

The slew of speedy eliminations continued after the break and while a total of 53 players came back from dinner, that number has dropped to 43 in short order.

One of the more recent casualties was Luis Arrilucea who moved all-in from under-the-gun for ~280,000 with Suzy Khoueis making the call from two seats over to put Arrilucea at risk.

Luis Arrilucea: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Suzy Khoueis: {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

Arrilucea's final board ran out {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{j-Spades}{a-Spades}{9-Clubs} and he departed in 47th place for an AU$6,789 payday while Khoueis climbed to 1.1 million.

Double Knockout for Crawshaw

Level 21 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Hamish Crawshaw
Hamish Crawshaw

Andrew Zhang raised from under the gun. Hamish Crawshaw jammed from the small blind. David Tang called from the small blind with 312,000 in his stack. Zhang also called with around 350,000 in his stack. Both Tang and Zhang were covered.

Crawshaw: {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}
Zhang: {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Tang: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

The board ran out {3-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts}{7-Hearts}, improving Crawshaw to a pair of sixes, which was enough to take out both his opponents.

Chiu Leads the Pack

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Edwin Chiu
Edwin Chiu

Edwin Chiu was kind enough to replay how he amassed a stack of over three million in chips.

He raised preflop with pocket fives. Jo Snell three-bet with ace-four out of the blinds. Chiu called.

The flop would come {5-}{j-}{q-} and Snell continued with a bet. Chiu came along with his set.

Snell would then barrel on the turn and river with Chiu coming along.

The eventual three million chip pot would go Chiu's way sending him to the outright lead.

Duan Rails Endersby

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

The end has come for Travis Endersby, with Chao Duan the man to end his Main Event dreams.

Endersby was short and committed the last of his chips with {k-Clubs}{j-Spades} only to see Duan wake up behind with {k-Hearts}{k-Spades} and the {7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} run out was of no help, with Duan stacking up to 620,000 after the hand.

Ioannou's final board came down {3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and he headed for the payout desk, with Zwaine stacking up to 1.3 million after the hand.

Rafferty Takes From Chiu

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Edwin Chiu is sitting on a mountain of chips but has not long shipped some the way of Tom Rafferty. It was Chiu the man in the driving seat, opening the action from under-the-gun for 35,000 with Rafferty the only caller on the button to take play heads-up to a flop of {2-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{k-Hearts}.

This brought a 27,000 continuation bet from Chiu and another call from Rafferty to bring the two to the {10-Clubs} turn, where the action went check, check.

The {6-Hearts} river saw Chiu check once more and Rafferty decided the right amount to bet was 45,000. Chiu called but mucked when Rafferty rolled over {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} to climb to 418,000. Chiu still has plenty though and is sitting on 3.1 million, with the tournament floor colouring up some of his massive stack with dark blue 100k chips now in play.

Floor's Ruling Cripples Snell; Finds a Double; Eliminated Shortly After

Level 20 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Jo Snell
Jo Snell

Jo Snell raised to 35,000 from under the gun plus one. Chao Duan moved all in for 187,000 from the hijack. Whilst the dealer was confirming Duan's stack, Yang Lei moved all in from the small blind, for a total of 381,000.

With so much commotion around and messages coming across the loud-speaker, Snell called thinking he was only matching Duan's bet. It was ruled that his call in addition to pushing chips forward stood and Snell would have to match Lei's all in too.

Duan: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Lei: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Snell: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

"Yes!" cheered a relieved Snell, after he saw the window jack fall on the {4-Spades}{k-Spades}{j-Clubs} flop. Unfortunately for him, a king appeared as well, sending Duan and Lei to the lead.

The board ran out the {10-Hearts} then {2-Hearts}, resulting in Duan and Lei chopping the main pot, and Lei scooping the side pot between him and Snell.

Snell was able to double up a few hands later when his {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts} bested Duan's {k-Spades}{q-Spades} on a {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} board.

He would then fall to the rail moments later to see his rollercoaster day come to an end prematurely.
