Zheng Exits Empty Handed to Burst Bubble

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Jun Zheng (standing up) busts to Michael Hahn (seat 1)
Jun Zheng (standing up) busts to Michael Hahn (seat 1)

The bubble has burst in a rather anti-climactic fashion. It was the short-stacked Jun Zheng the man all-in for his tournament life from middle position with {10-Spades}{9-Spades} for his last 18,000 with Michael Hahn looking him up from two seats over with {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs}.

While he had slightly the best of it, Zheng's final runout would come {8-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{6-Spades}, with Hahn making the straight on the river to bring the 117 remaining players into the money and all are now guaranteed a payday of at least AU$3,687 (~$2,520).

The turn fell the {4-Diamonds} and Ward checked. Blatt tossed out 18,000. Ward thought for a minute before announcing all in with 65,000 behind. Blatt mucked shortly after.

Mrad Folds Out White, Camphausen vs. Tan, Double for Rafferty

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Tom Rafferty
Tom Rafferty

Two more players have fallen to bring the field down to 121 and the remaining players are jockeying for position as the bubble approaches.

Chris White tried to get something going with a raise to 18,000 from the button with Sam Mrad making the call from the big blind to take the action heads-up to a flop of {4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{k-Clubs}, which saw no betting.

The {a-Hearts} turn saw Mrad take a stab for 28,000, which was enough to take down the hand. Mrad stacked up to 400,000 and has made a sterling recovery after losing that big pot to Jules Wilson earlier, and White dropped to 170,000.

Marc Camphausen and Jerome Tan battled in a small pot, with Camphausen the man driving the action from middle position with a raise to 14,000 with Tan making the call from the button.

The {k-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop saw no betting, with Camphausen taking down the pot on the {q-Hearts} turn after leading for 25,000 to climb to 405,000, while Tan still has heaps and is sitting on a stack of 600,000.

Tom Rafferty managed to snag a timely double, with the community cards spread {5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{k-Spades}{j-Diamonds} and Rafferty's {k-Clubs}{5-Clubs} the only hand face-up on the felt as his opponent's stack was counted down. Rafferty stacked up 290,000 after the hand.

Let's Take a Break

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

The remaining 123 players are on their first 10-minute break of the day, when they return just six eliminations remain before the money.

Crawshaw Rails One

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Hamish Crawshaw railed an unhappy opponent, with PokerNews turning up after the fact with the community cards spread {10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} and the cards face-up on the felt in front of both players.

Crawshaw had rivered the straight with {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} to best the big blind's {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and, according to Crawshaw, it was a three-bet pot preflop and the two players had got all their chips in on the flop.

Crawshaw is now up to 500,000.

Daniel Laidlaw
Daniel Laidlaw

Daniel Laidlaw raised to 12,000 from the hijack. Akshay Kapoor and Simon Chahine called from the blinds.

All three players checked the {3-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop before the {a-Spades} dropped on the turn.

The action checked to Laidlaw who fired 16,000. Kapoor and Chahine quickly folded and Laidlaw won the pot.

Marc Camphausen Doubles Opponent

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Marc Camphausen
Marc Camphausen

The flop showed {j-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and Marc Camphausen had called a shove from his opponent totalling 72,500.

Camphausen watched as his opponent tabled {j-Clubs}{5-Hearts} for top pair before flipping over {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} for an over pair.

The {7-Hearts} on the turn changed nothing, however, the {5-Clubs} on the river gave Camphausen's opponent two pair and the winning hand.

Camphausen thumped the table in disappointment before standing up from the table and taking a walk.
