Bommes Slightly Dents Hougaard

Christoph Bommes raised in the cutoff to 10,000. Over to Jesper Hougaard, who places one chip on his cards, signifying that he means business. He then raises a further 17,500. Back round to Bommes, who announces, "All in." Hougaard immediately stands up and asks for a count. Two sneaky yellow T1,000 stacks are nestled in the back of Bommes' chips (naughty naughty, not displaying the high-denom ones in front) and it's a hefty 121,500 if Hougaard wants to take him on for the lot. He kneels on his chair, counts out the call, but eventually declines to make it. 27,500 flop-free for Bommes, who allows his opponent to turn one of his cards -- it's the {K-Diamonds}.

"Show the ace as well, " goads Channing, stirring. No go.

Nathan Lee Busts

Now the table short stack, Nathan Lee still had 25,000 or so when he made his preflop move. It turned out that cutoff Christoph Bommes had picked up the {A-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds} and wasn't going anywhere -- at least Lee's {J-Hearts} {9-Clubs} were live. The board brought him no help; although at the turn the {2-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {A-Hearts} gave flush hopes, the {5-Diamonds} crushed them again and Lee exits before the dinner break.

Jason Feeling Gray

Warren Woodall has managed a remarkable turnaround. So much so, that's he's just managed to eliminated Jason Gray from today's proceedings.

Gray had raised to 11,000 from late position and Woodall made the call from the big blind. The flop was {A-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}, Woodall checked, and Gray bet 14,000 before Woodall raised to 45,000. After some contemplation Gray moved all in and Woodall made the call.

The turn was the {3-Diamonds} offering some additional outs, but the river was the {Q-Hearts} eliminating Gray from the competition. Woodall meanwhile, now has over 225,000 and is amongst the chip leaders.

Bommes on a Roll

That might be a metaphor from a totally different game, but after a quiet start to the day the youngster has picked up the pace and developed a big stack along with some confidence using it. Just now, having raised early to 10,000 and picked up new tablemate Daniel Nutt for the ride, Bommes got all the way to the river without any drama, and then faced a bet out of 15,000 from Nutt.

The board read {Q-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {2-Hearts} {8-Clubs}. Bommes thought for a while before calling, and was rewarded with that sort of wrist-flip players do when they don't want to show. Bommes tabled the {A-Hearts} {10-Spades} and Nutt, fingers caught in the cookie jar, mucked his hand. Bommes' balcony rail went wild.

Monster Pot Absorbed Into Hougaard's Stack

In the closing minutes of the level, neighbors Fuad Serhan and Jesper Hougaard tangled in a big pot. Serhan raised to 16,000 preflop, called by an in-position Hougaard. On the flop of {2-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {2-Hearts} Serhan bet out 19,000, again flat-called by Hougaard.

Turn was the {3-Spades}. Now the bet was 25,000 -- called.

River was the {10-Hearts}. Checked to Hougaard, who announced, "All in," moving in his stack of red 5,000 chips as a symbolic gesture on behalf of his ludicrous towers. Serhan declined to call off the rest of his stack, and was shown the {J-Spades} for his trouble.

A note to players registered in the HORSE event tomorrow. Apparently, some of the tickets printed were printed for a 5pm start time. Harrah's staff have just informed us that the start time for tomorrow's event is 2pm.

All players registered for the HORSE event should be at the Empire no later than 2pm for cards.
