Gavin Smith Eliminated

With Gavin Smith cracking kings earlier to double up, I suppose it's merely card karma that his were cracked just now by {9-Clubs} {10-Clubs} with the board coming {J-?} {8-?} {6-?} {A-?} {Q-?} to send him to the rail with 30 minutes to go tonight.

Turbulence for Turmezey

It's been up and down for Peter Turmezey of late.

First he pushed Per Hildebrand off a pot on the turn of a {10-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {K-Hearts} board, moving all in to Hidebrand's bet. Turmezey:1, Rest of Table:0.

But a few hands later the table(s) had turned -- on a {10-Spades} {10-Clubs} {5-Clubs} flop, Neil Channing checked to Turmezey who duly bet 1,200, but Turmezey then had to fold to Channing's all-in check-raise. Turmezey:1, Rest of Table:1.

Gavin Smith Doubles Through Bengt Sonnert

I heart queen-ten
I heart queen-ten
A short-stacked Gavin Smith got it all in preflop with {Q-Diamonds} {10-Spades} and Bengt Sonnert gladly made the call holding {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}.

The flop was {10-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {7-Clubs}, Sonnert's kings still safe, but the {Q-Hearts} spiked on the turn making Smith two pair. The river was the {6-Clubs} and Smith doubled up to 11,000.

"Now you know you're destined to win this tournament," joked his tablemate Yuval Bronshtein.

"No. Now I know I'm destined to last until 1:15!" he laughed with a look at his watch.

Roland de Wolfe 84,000
Yuval Bronshtein 75,000

Bengt Sonert 56,000
Jani Sointula 50,000
Adam Junglen 41,000
Jeff Garza 36,000
Barry Greenstein 47,000

The Luck of the Devil

David "Devilfish" Ulliott raised under the gun, only for Peter Turmezey to shove from the button for around 12,000 total. "All in, eh?" said Devilfish, rather obviously. After some thought, he called.

Turmezey: {A-Hearts} {K-Spades}
Devilfish: {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades}

Board: {4-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {8-Clubs}

In a lucky escape, Devilfish got to take his chips back, while unfortunate Turmezey missed out on a much-needed double-up.

Durrr... I Fold

Tom Dwan took down a monster pot, which ended with Dwan moving all in on the river of the {7-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {K-Spades} {8-Hearts} {10-Clubs} board and Lauri Keinonen folding. Neither player showed their hand to the table, but Dwan showed his cards to the ESPN show-us-your-cards machine, so there's something to look forward to on the ESPN highlights, Dwan fans...
