Jesus Claims Another Soul

Wow, the big names are beginning to really amass all the big stacks here.

Chris Ferguson, already a fairly big stack, just now knocked out another player to propel him into the chip lead on 15,500.

The luckless soon-to-be-bustee moved in with {A-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} on a {3-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} flop, but Ferguson called him with just {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}. The turn brought the {4-Hearts} and the river the {10-Hearts}, and with no flushes for his opponent, Ferguson took the pot.

Tournament director Jack Effel arrived to take the seat card from the dealer. "Hold up," he said to the table, "I'll try to find you some more victims..."

Get in Cheap

The Empire Casino have asked me to alert readers to a £30 rebuy satellite here on Sunday, Sep 20 at 3pm. This will earn you entry into the £750 Main Event satellite on Sep 25. Good luck to all those who decide to give it a shot.

Mid-Break Rant

"I've got 1,000," reported Dave 'El Blondie' Colclough. "I haven't been over my starting stack for three hours. It's been water torture. It's ridiculous though and I can't believe they only give us 3,000 for a tournament like this. I can't wait to get back to the cash games; these tournaments are too stressful on the bankroll. You only need to lose one pot and then you can't play. I can understand it in Vegas where you have three events in a day, but not here."

Imminent Doom?

An interesting table is forming up on the mezzanine level. The table already featured Andrew Feldman (although he's now woefully short on just 2,000), David Docherty, and big stacks Antony Lellouche and Gary Pearce, but just now Arnaud Mattern has been added to the mix. Should be fun.

Murrell Eliminated

Paul Murrell only had a couple of thousand at the time, but after reraising preflop from the cut-off, early position raiser Nicolas Levi decided to put him in for his remaining shrapnel with {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. Murrell showed {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, and although the flop came {2-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{8-Hearts}, the turn brought the {6-Spades} to make the {9-Clubs} river academic.

Ferguson Extends Lead

We caught up with the action on the river of the {6-Spades} {Q-Spades} {3-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {9-Clubs} board to witness a very sizable pot in the middle of the table and Chris Ferguson sitting with a bet of 5,000 in front of him. A wall of various media and railer types crowded around the table while Ferguson's opponent, a young gentleman sporting a Smurf t-shirt and an white iPod earphones, squirmed unhappily in the big blind position.

Eventually Ferguson's opponent passed, and Ferguson is up to 19,000 without the bother of having to show his hand.
